I am all for this dude but no way is it over yet. Lets not forget the 2022 World Cup is in Qatar and Blatter and his cronies will offer and do anything to keep this man and his country sweet.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that ain't evidence.

So they're going to put the World Cup in a country whose football team has never qualified for a World Cup (and have only been close once, oh, and they have only advanced pass the group stage once in continental championships), has the smallest population and land mass in the history of world cup hosts, is 125 ******* degrees fahrenheit during the summer, normally doesn't allow drinking or ***, has a brutal dictatorship supported by usurious oil prices, and whose most exciting tourist attractions are a mall and an indoor ski resort...yeah, it's going to be a ******* blast. this is the place they chose over the US (the site of the most financially successful world cup in history) and australia (a growing soccer nation that has friendly, fun people who know how to have a great time, great weather during that time of year, and is one of the world's best tourist destinations in the world. and this decision was made in conjunction with putting the world cup in russia over england, spain/portugal, and holland, when even though england had the best bid technically, it only got one vote). yeah, i'm SURE there was no corruption involved there. they did it for the sake of the fans, didn't they.

Yeah, yeah. Whatever you can spout here about it being unfair or Qatar not deserving it, it is all pointless. There is no evidence. There are plenty of conspiracy theories, sure, but they are not evidence. Stop pretending they are.

Read article somewhere that FA are ready to support him if he decides to contest against Blatter. Hope he wins as Blatter is everything wrong with the modern game.

And if he becomes FIFA president can we expect some bias towards Barca as Qataris foundations are their official sponsors now?

I haven't bothered reading Curtis' posts but I'm inclined to agree there was something fishy about the Qatari bid.

Still - Anyone to knock Blatter off his very high horse gets my vote.

The FA have said they will back him. He is waiting for a few more in Europe to back him but he has got pretty much the rest of the world on his side

The World Cup's going to be in Qatar.

Think your still bitter because they got the WC ? Most thingsi n football will now come from the middle-eastern countries due to the fact that's were all the money is coming from these days.

I'm for this guy, I'm all for anyone over Blatter including Roy hodgson

True, their national team may be weak, but the Qatari people's love for football is immense. They have great passion for the game, and they see football as their main sport. The Gulf Arabs, especially the Qataris and Emiratis, are a very accepting people. They live in a very cosmopolitan society, and are used to having foreigners around. Did it not occur in your mind that maybe the people don't want drinking and *** to be normally allowed?

True, they have an absolute monarchy, but when the Emir gives them free electricity, free water, free land, free healthcare, and free eduction, they have very little reason not to like living under him. Qataris enjoy a very high standard of life.

Well what do you expect them to have in terms of tourist attractions? This country was just a small pearling protectorate of the British Empire untill forty years ago. They don't have much, but that is the point of the world cup, they're trying to create a name for themselves.

Read about this guy in World Soccer - really looking forward to the challenge

However, does this show a power shift in football, and the rise of the middle east to be a force on the world stage?

...it might turn out to be a frog

you can trot out sayings, but you havent even shown a shred of edvidence.

Two members of FIFA were suspended a month before the bidding process for allegedly offering to take bribes. Grondona in Argentina had unusual financial activity right afterwards. When the BBC tried to investigate FIFA officials, FIFA let the world know that they didn't want anyone looking into those matters. It's an organization that's known to be corrupt. The two countries least likely to win the bids got them, and they both were the most corrupt countries out of all of the bidders. Not a smoking gun yet, but I'm sure that they did plenty to keep it secret, since such an exposure would ruin them.

Meh Fifa is too corrupt all thanks to our good friend Joao Havelange and Im afraid it will probably always be corrupt. Votes for the presidency are ruled by money and not who is the better candidate.

This guy will be better than Blatter or jack Warner though

Then either it's a duck, or we assume it's a duck and it's actually a platypus. More to the point, there is no evidence of it being a duck, and we want and expect it to be a platypus.

Liking the sport is not sufficient for getting to host a world cup. I don't have a problem with the fact that Qataris don't want drinking and ***, in fact, I salute them for it. But that just makes it a terrible place for hosting this type of event, the culture of the World Cup is just entirely antithetical to such attitudes. It's about the fans and what would be a good time for the majority of them.

Because the oil on this planet is held in the hands of a very few who can manipulate the prices to extreme levels. Considering the amount of oil revenue Qatar enjoys, these things are to be expected.

I'm not blaming them for not having tourist attractions, I'm just saying it makes absolutely no sense to host a world cup there. When I went to the World Cup in Germany, there was so much other stuff to do. If I went to Qatar I'd spend the whole time in an overpriced hotel room. With maybe a trip to a mall that would be incredibly overcrowded. It will be the worst world cup in history in terms of what the experience will be like for the fans. What a shame, I really was looking forward to making the trip to Australia in 2022, or perhaps getting to see it in my own country.

I'm inclined to agree with Curtis for the most part, but the most ludicrous factor for me is the weather and potential moving of the event to the winter. I don't think that the Qatari world cup bid should in anyway affect bin hammam's chances though. I really hope we soon see the back of Blatter.

but how does that link to him personally? this is my point. not a smoking gun, not even a loaded gun

The thing is with the points about Qatar hosting the WC is all just guessing games, The same as many people had their doubts about it being held in South Africa. The tournament could be a massive success. The funding they have can make it happen all your opinions are just speculation curtis no facts.
