Fed up of the Spanish Liga BBVA being dominated by Real Madrid and Barcelona and Sevilla trying and failing each year to break the top 2? Me to!

So its time for the likes of Madrid to move aside and make way for a new chapter in Spanish football history, a chapter dominated by R.C.D. Espanyol de Barcelona.

Areas of Weakness: LB, LM and CF

So, lets get the journey underway.....

(Will post again after pre-season, letting you know how results go and player movements in and out, any advice on potential to solutions to my LB, LM and CF problems would be appreciated, remember the transfer kitty of £2.6mil!)

Good luck mate. Try and get Soldado from Getafe for a striker, he's class.

good luck and brilliant results against arsenal and birmingham :)

So here's a snap shot of how things have been going in my mission to overthrow the 2 giants of Spanish football...

After 11 league games i currently sit 2nd in the league, just 2pts behind Barcelona, Madrid have made an indifferent start to the season and my pre-season prediction of top 6 might have been a slight underestimation of exaclty what i can do this season! Although the results against Osasuna and Malaga were slight set backs, the team have began to settle and find there rythmn and an understanding of the tactic i am using, particular highlights were the 3 games shown below, a 7-2 away win first game of the season and a 4-2 home win against Valencia. Also one of the more recent results which shows how the team have really started to find their feet is the 5-0 home win against Athletico Madrid. Finally to come away from the Nou Camp losing 1-0 in the 86th min was absolutely heart breaking we had chances, hit the post twice could have won but concentration in the last few minutes of the game cost us what could have been a very hard earned point :(!

Douglas Costa and Jamel Ait Ben Idir have been inspirational signings, Douglas Costa has been scoring hat fulls from his AMC role since his loan move from Brazilian side Gremio, and Ait Ben Idir's 90k move from Le Havre has been a somewhat masterstroke he's been consistently strong in his DM role and at 90k didn't exactly break the bank!

Lets hope this early season form can continue over christmas and into the new year!

Cheers mate, can anyone tell me where to find the league/team codes for the personalised sig?

holy **** mate what tactic are you using that's an amazing start to Espanyol

I'm playing the 'complete dominance' tactic which can be found on this site in the download fm10 tactis bit, really pleased with how things are going at the moment!

Looking good so far mete, doing the same thing with getafe lol. just finished first season. complete dominence is really good tactic, keep up the good work

So, here's the next 11 fixtures after my previous post, im now in mid-january and in the past 11 fixtures as you can see i've won 9, drawn 1 and lost 1 (at home to Real Madrid!)

The results have continued to be positive and successes have bread more success, Douglas Costa is playing immensely well and Jamel Ait Ben Idir has been an absolute bargain buy his performances have been world class! I can't believe i'm saying this but to lose at home to Madrid was very disappointing after the previous results, but since then the team have never looked back :)!

The 2 results below are the highlights from the past set of 10 results...

As you can see below Luis Garcia is top of the goal scoring charts popping them in for fun, but what is also pleasing to see is that the goals have been shared around the team with a few on 8, 7 and 6.

View attachment 22535

Shunsuke Nakamura is heading the assists chart, which isn't surprising as i highlighted him as the my key player at the beginning of the season.

So now to the business end, sitting 3rd in the league, level on points with Barcelona, a far cry to what was predicted by myself, and the media at the beginning of the season! However, i'm going to get carried away as we all no its not how you start the season its how you finish it!

The January transfer window is almost closed with no movement coming in or going out, i felt no need to bolster the squad and the lack of funds hasn't helped, i may however need a CB on an emergancy loan as i'll struggle if i get injuries.

Thanks for reading, will post again in March!

Lets see if Espanyol can really mount a serious title challenge and reach the dizzy heights of Spanish football!

No loan signings were able to be made in January so squad is looking on the light side, this was due to lack of funds available as all clubs wanted loan fees and i have £0 to spend!

So here's my next block of fixtures and results, its been a bit of a mixed bag, some good wins and then some disappointing defeats, i just hope the team don't do what Aston Villa did in the the Prem last season...

This is the best results from the bunch of fixtures, a convincing 6-0 home win i really couldn't ask for more from the players, apart from asking them to do this every game!
View attachment 22615

Luis Garcia is still popping them in for fun and Nakamura is still heading up the assists charts!

I still sit in 3rd place in the league but some recent indifferent results have left me 10pts off the pace, lets hope a strong finish to the season can keep me in that 3rd spot, and maybe even push Barca for 2nd :)

Will post again at the end of the season, thanks to those who are following!

Season has now finished, ultimately disappointing end to the season after such a positive start, just couldnt quite see it through, a mixed bag of results at the end, throwing away leads and drawing too many games cost us :(
View attachment 22639

Although we didn't make the top 3, i have gone above and beyond my pre-season expectations Europa League football and have qualified for the Champions League in 4th place which i'm actually a little disappointed about strangely, maybe my expectations got a bit carried away!

View attachment 22640

Beating Sevilla 4-2 was probably the best result out of the last section of fixtures, scoring to make it 4-2 after going down to 10 men showed the great character of the players.

View attachment 22641

However it was down to results like this which cost us that 3rd place finish in the league, 2-0 up at half time and losing 3-2 is not acceptable.

View attachment 22642

Now in to the close season, with the money i'll receive (hopefully) from my 4th place finish and for qualifying in for the Champions League, hopefully i will be given quite a nice transfer kitty to bolster the squad for next season :)

Will post again after the pre-season...

The season has now finished and my last few fixtures are shown below, some indifferent results towards the end of the season have inevitably cost me my 3rd place spot :( throwing away leads and drawing too many games cost me in the end.

View attachment 22639

So in the end i finished 4th which is slight annoying, really wanted that 3rd place spot but then again after my pre-season prediction of top 7/europa league and the media prediction of 10th i haven't done half badly :)

View attachment 22640

I'd probably pick this result out of the bunch as the highlight, a 4-2 home win against Sevilla, 3-2 down to 10men with 10mins to go and manage to get a 4th goal to seal the victory!

View attachment 22641

However it was results like this one below that cost me in the end, 2-0 up at half time and then to lose 3-2 is unacceptable and i will do my best to make sure results like this never happen in future.

View attachment 22642

Now i'm in the close season, will post again after my pre-season fixtures and transfer dealings :)

Thanks for reading, if anyone wants any other screen shots just let me know :)

I was never given any money for my final league position, and even with qualifying for the Champions league i was only given £4.9million to spend as the club is in debt, and only 10% of player sales is made available for transfers, however with my small budget i managed to bring in the following players...

View attachment 22650

Pre-season matches produced a mixed bag of results, cannot believe the 5-0 defeat to athletico madrid was an absolute shambles to say the least!

View attachment 22651

Chairman is looking to step aside and a board takeover could be immenent, know idea what this means for the future of the club and as me as manager, lets see what the new season brings...

Will post again after 10 league games...

Sorry about the lack of updates tonight, been at work, not that anyone actually follows my story lol...
