Multiplayer game

Me and a college roommate want to play against each other in the evenings we both have copies of fm11 and wireless laptops , the problem is we have no internet connection and do not want to go the old 'pass the laptop route' , is there any way we can play a network game by setting up an ad hoc(computer to computer) network or vpn

Any help would be appreciated

Hamachi should work for you ad-hoc.
