The 17-year-old is the brother of Kiki Musampa - currently on loan at Manchester City from Atletico Madrid.
Pompey scouts are believed to have watched Musampa jnr in action playing in his native DR Congo where he plays for champions DC Motema Pembe.
Portsmouth boss Alain Perrin is now reported to be looking into luring the young midfielder to Fratton Park.
