Haha dont worry dude, just thought i'd clarify. I'm partialy tempted to leave as set pieces till end of the season, i'm top of the league in italy atm with Juventus breathing down my neck so not sure if i want to change when i'm on a roll. Set pieces was doing so well aswell :<

I have quite a large squad (30 players) since it?s been very difficult to sell some players i don?t want, i try to play everybody to keep them happy and the morale good... So here?s the squad...
View attachment 487520View attachment 487521

F9?s PPM?s:
Vietto: Beat offside trap / Likes to enter Box / places shots / tries first timers - got him training dribble goalkeeper
Rodrigo: Runs with ball down left / tries killer balls often / beat offside trap /shoots with power / dribble goalkeeper / come out playing
Nelson Oliveira: Lobs goalkeeper / plays down right / looks to play one-two?s

Midfield (MC) PPM?s, the playeres i use more:
Matic: Pauses the game
Enzo Perez: Likes to dribble the keeper / likes slidding takles
Andr? Gomes: Comes back to get ball / sets the rhythm of the game / long passes / Changes ball to opposite flank
Lucas Romero: tight marking / comes back to get the ball / sets the rhythm of the game
Bernanrdo Silva: comes back to get ball

LM/RM:
Markovic: Runs ball down right / place shots / doesn?t use weak foot / cuts inside
Fisher: runs with ball / cuts inside / tries to dribble GK
Iancu: -
Djuricic: Places Shots / one twos / Changes ball to opposite flank
Gaitan: Runs with ball / shoots with special effect / cuts inside
Ivan Cavaleiro: Places shots / runs down left / currently training cuts inside

I have not focused too much on these PPM because in the first two seasons I played three different tactics and kept switching them randomly...

Ahh Vietto?s form:View attachment 487557

Last game six shoot?s not even one hit the goal... :'(

For me the best results I have also yused the following PPM's:

F9: Runs Channels, plays 1-2's Often (these are weirdly pretty important due to the way the tactic operates - the midfield pushes up as a line, so the one-two's often turn into killer passes for the f9)

Wingers: Run with ball down right/left, drill crosses ( I would personally untrain your wingers from 'likes to cut inside'. Generally it just makes them cut in and shoot, so they don't create anything for your f9, if you can't untrain 'likes to cut inside' then train them 'tries killer balls often' if they have the passing and creativity stats necessary)

CM's your CM's must must must must must have 'tries killer passes often'. Most of my f9's goals come from him being ont he shoulder of the last man and the cm's hitting through balls for him to run onto.

From the looks of things although you have great players, it looks like none of your team is set up to create anything for your f9. For me, you need you wingers staying wide drilling crosses in, and you NEED your cm's trying to hit through balls. Because this tactic relies on really creative CM's that is where a lot of your f9's chances will come from.

Edit: And sell some of your players man :D If they aren't good enough then just get them off the wage bill. For myself whenever a player has a PA of only 3 stars I add them to the Unwanted list for their value. If i get no offers I add them for half value, if I still get no offers I offer them for ?0. If I can't get rid of them I loan them out for 100% of wages. Keep you wage bill as small as possible in preparation for December 29th (when you can approach players for the end of their contract). I keep my squad as small as possible, usually just 22 players, 2 for each position and makes sure that 1 or 2 of my midfielders and defenders can play anywhere across the midfield or defense.

Height is like crazily important in this game. If you have a back four and all your central midfield players are 6 ft + then you never need to train set pieces, but if they are short then you do.

Had a really stark moment of this in my recent save. For Kaiserslautern my 2 cb's and my 2 fb's were all 6ft+ and 2 of my 3 central midfield players were also 6ft+ and I never conceded from set pieces, so i just trained defensive positioning. After I resigned and went to Sampdoria only my CB's were 6ft+ and the rest were all 5"6 - 5"8 and I conceded **** loads of set pieces and had to change my match training to defend set pieces.

So yeah, choose which one based on the height of your players would be my opinion as it has had a massive effect on my teams.

Spot on with the height there, I think the anchorman could just be a defender thats got good passing stats, I know hes a natural DM but Capoue is sensational there an you can tell that when hes not in DM my team struggles, I've also had good results retraining Rever to play there, gonna try with John Stones next.

Indeed, although I would say that I prefer a defensive midfielder who is good in the air, rather than a centre back who is a good passer.

Garmash has always been a monster for me on my saves, as well as Tachtsidis.

What's best for a 16-17 years old talent? To be trained as like CM with heavy itensity and playing for your u21 team, or loan him out to another team where he playes regulary at the first team?

Will his stats improve as much if hes lent our for 2-3 years?

Thanks for the analysts! :)
As I watch most games on the mode below full match, I realized most of the things you told me... Just didn?t know what to change around... The tactic was fluid, but it looked a little messy, a lot of shots outside the box, most of the goals scored from set pices, or flukes, wasn?t getting nice fluid football... I messed around with the training putting a lot of attacking and ball control training...
I going to try what you have suggested this new season...

As for the excess of players, believe me... i?m trying to value them and sell them, i got a good offer from Inter for Djuricic but he didn?t like the contract length, as for Rodrigo got a good deal from Man. Utd. but he did?t like the salary... and i haven?t even renewed his contract (85k)... i thought in England they paid better wages than in Portugal... :S

As for my season, it was very good, the tactic is brilliant, i?m not going to say i played all the matches with this tactic about 90% of the season i used this tactic... what i do... is when i start to see complacency from the team i trow in another tactic for one/two games just to get the players focused again, and confuse the opposition... i sometimes do it in the middle of a losing or tied game...

So here my season:

Finally league cup final, during the season i lost my away game with Sporting (1-0) and won my home game (1-0, on a own goal), with this tactic... so in the final when i found myself losing, i changed tactics during the game and it paid off...

My best striker was Vietto, but notting impressive... but next season hopefully is going to be different (H)

Thanks for the help Sp3aker, thanks for the great tactic callamity...

P.S:
I would also like to have a 22 player squad, but i always have the problem of the home grown and club grown players, a problem Benfica is actually having because of the amount of foreign players we have in the team. Jorge Jesus rarely starts a portuguese player in the first 11...

17 in 33 is pretty good, just train up his composure and finishing to 15, 15 and he'll score more

Used this tactic all season and won everything i was able to. Seria A, Italian cup, Euro cup and the European super cup (which was pretty special)

Most consistent tactic i've ever used in fm2014. The test now is to repeat/emulate the success as every season so far, i've had it difficult the season after. Here are my highlights of the season

And just for comedy purposes......

No idea how the ref managed to justify calling that one. Not complaining tho mind as it was the only goal of the game. Would've raged if it went the other way :P

Going to give this another try. Switching from Hartlepool to Millwall.

Here's quick update after around 10 games. We're 1st in Bundesliga, have 9 from 9 and 31-4 goal difference, in CL we have 7 points after 3 games(draw with Anderlecht) and we're in 3rd round of German cup. This tactic is absolutely insane,I create insane number of chances, I just can't convert them. Lewandowski has 34 in 21 game(including friendlies), but, for me, he's ****. If he scored half of the CCC's he missed, he'd be at around 50 goals in November(idk if that's ME bug, but it's driving me really crazy) . Anyway, here are some SS:

I used this tactics for two seasons in my Feyenoord save (with great success) but ended up binning it not long after the 14.2.2 patch as I started getting inconsistent results, so I started making my own tactics.

ANYWAY, it's making a return after reading this thread. After around 6 seasons of ******* around with my own tactics: 352, 4222, 442 and 4231 I've started getting a bit bored of creating my own (I'm running out of ideas) so I'm hoping this one can live up to its hype once more :).

Also because I think this lad will be absolutely perfect for the false nine role:

Oh **** ME, that was some stats!

callamity, when i read the "how to play fm" article, it says there if we use very fluid, we should only use 0-1 specialist role. But in your tac, u use 2 (anchor man & false9).. could u pls clarify ?

The same guide also states this is not hard fast rules and if you want to be more creative then do so. I wanted an anchor man to provide defensive stability and a false 9 for creativity and link up play. However very fluid provides the universalism that I was looking for.
