my brother and his long f*ucking throws.

My brother and i are currently playing FM14 online. i am Inter Milan and he is Ac Milan. We are half through the season and he has just gone top of the league, he hasnt gone top the league through sliky play or even ugly football, but by getting his best thrower of the ball to throw the ball long into the box right on to the head of his first man on the post and scoring a goal like this at least 50 per cent of the time. He just Beat my Inter 4-1 by doing this, 3 of his goals direct from throw ins..and i am pretty sore about it. I have only conceded 2 goals from set pieces all season and prepared my training to def set pieces to try to counter his throws but it failed on the day. Has he found an exploit or will the AI catch on and adapt? Does anyone have ideas on how to counter his long throws for the return fixture?
 
Get a big *** player to mark his defender. Man mark him.

Smack him and tell him to start playing the game properly.
 
ah, the stoke tactic. Man mark, set players up to hassle opponents and close down more, should help.
 
Players take up positions as if they were defending a corner during long bullet throw ins, so if you have a good defensive corner setup it should be no problem.
 
Most annoying thing. Ever. The same was in FM13. I don't think there is a solution to this.
 
What's his throw set up if you don't mind posting it? Sounds like you could have a very nice exploit here! ;)
 
Thanks for the advice guys, will give it a go, but i fear he is going to win the league this way and it sucks.

He is claiming his *** manger is handling all his set piece duties, i dont know if he is being truthful all i know is he is scoring at least 3-4 goals per match from throw ins and its giving me ******* ache watching him doing it.
 
I've tried every means necessary of setting this up but in about 20 games I've not managed a single goal. :(

How can you class this as "The Stoke Tactic"? We havent scored from a throw in for 3 seasons!!
 
Only because Rory Delap got too old to actually run on the pitch...
 
well, i went to a couple of stoke games a couple of years back when i was at uni at staffs uni, just down the road from the stadium, but when i left uni, i blocked the whole of stoke out of my mind, i am sure you understand heh

Thats not even true, were actually starting to play half decent football and Ireland's goal against Swansea proved that. The football was silky and smooth. Besides, when Delap left we then had Shotton to take our long throws for us, and he's been forked out on loan, probably due to be sold in the near future as well.

Other than that, I would love to know a good throw exploit. I have one but it gets about 1 goal in every 3 games which isn't too impressive, still good though.
 
Try steal your brothers assistant manager and end your problems. He'll score less and have to set up a new tactic

ha of course but this was more of a dig at pulis' use of delap (who has just retired) how he managed to extend his career by the length of his throw is unbelieveable!
now we get to hate palace, which is a given, since I'm a watford fan ;)
