Do tests like this actually prove anything? surely a fit for one team isnt for any other and in our games the AI will never use these?

I had great success with pala's tactic, but it didn't do well in this test and Jeid's tactic for example was a disaster for me but it goes well here.So i guess it's all very individual.

With the revelation of the supposed corner exploit, is this considered in the testing at all?

i dont think so. some tactics use it and others dont. i think that in all fairness no tactic should use the short corner exploit in this test. simply better terms for comparisson, which i think is the idea behind this project. just my opinion though.

Any testing should be done and the tactics using the exploit should have them amended to "mixed".

while i dont agree with exploits being used in fairness of testing.

I was asking out of interest, not to have a dig at andy's testing methods as I fully support and appreciate him running these as he has done for the last fm's. I did not intend to cause a testing should be done this way debate. Apoligies if taken out of context :D

First of all this not a rant, but guys, these comments emerged every year. Thats is why I repeatedly mentioned (in the OP) that this is purely a PLUG-n-PLAY testing. I dont dig around other people's tactics nor I tampered with any of them. Simply because they are not mine. I dont judge if any tactic tries to exploit any aspect of the game. I simply download, plug, and play all the tactics. I'm happy enough to be able to try them here.

I myself know that this (by any mean) is not the best way of testing a tactic. But as I said (and also emphasized in the OP) that this is a quantitative, results-oriented, and statistical project. Targetting the quantitity over the quality. To be honest, I'm not willing to waste few days running a full season just to test 2-3 tactics. Im so sorry..

I fully understand your concern about the fairness, but of all people, I would be the last one to judge that a tactic is an exploit. The word exploit itself interpreted differently in FM. Plus, I dont believe I have the authority to 'remove the exploit' and then label the tactic under the creator name. This, also cancel the possibility of 'separating' the exploit tactics.

The reason I'm willing to spend SO MUCH time to do this project is simply because I love this small competition between the tactics. I love watching them facing eachother. To be honest, in the last 3 FMs, I never finished a season (on my personal save game) until FM released the final patch of the game. So, this is what I do until then, to fill the time. And that is why I stopped the project few weeks after the final patch is released.

I know, some find it hard to digest the accuracy and authenticity of this project, if you do, why dont just take this project as small fun competition between tactics. Purely just for fun. Thats it. :)

Note: please dont take any of that as a lashing back. I dont mean it that way. Luv you guys.. ^^)

To make everything level grounds you would need lets say Barcelona all 8 teams have same player stats etc. Carbon copy's. I Remember last year testing every player had same stat in each team.. For Example my tactic was drawn juventus. Juventus play a 3-5-2 system and don't have any natural Full backs and is struggling as such.

Again, I mentioned this in the OP. I didnt managed to create a proper 'all equal teams' database. It crashed.
Sorry, if you ended up with Juve mate. Its all done by alphabetical order. : )

Isnt this how tactics work in FM? Even the most popular tactic (with 100+ pages thread) there are still a couple of tens who reported that the tactic failed to work in their team. Even more, same tactic+same team+different gamer=totally different results. There are lotsa variables involved for success in FM.

True, what works in Barca doesnt mean it will work with other team. But atleast we can see which tactic that will MOST LIKELY to work with that club. 'Results may vary' is always been in FM menu. Its not CM 01/02. :)

I fully understand and maybe should have asked in a pm, like I said it was out of interest and not to spark any debate or to change how you test, these types of projects and especially this one is very exciting for the fm community so please crack on and keep up the fantastic work :)

Thanks for the answer, was a genuine question, rather than ok great but whats the point? :)

Thanks, i ike this, All tactics shoudl have a database league where they are played with say 10 different teams and they all use the same one, we'd know if a tactic is a fit for say barca in Spain, but naff for Tottenham :)

Understood. No problem at all. :)
I'm planning a major change for the team list after Round 4.
I'm thinking of testing them on the Skrill league teams. Still, it wont make it equal and fair. But I think it will level the playing field a bit more. I think Barnet vs Southport is less predictable than Barca vs PSV. Plus, Im getting bored with the giants vs giants.

I still didnt managed manage to create an 'all equal teams' database though. So delay that for now.

You should use my tweaked tactic if your going to test any one of mine dude. I have updated mines totally. The original tactic you tested was very much a work in progress. The P2 - Attack one, is a lot better.

Could you maybe test out my (wip) tactic?
I'd really appreciate if I got a feedback from another person :D

Would you like to test my catenaccio tactic? would be interesting to see if it can
be useful for a big team.

I'd like you to test this tactic too when you get the chance please. View attachment 416771

If I link a tactic can you add it to your test? Thanks!

Thanks guys. You all are up for Round 5. However though, I'm changing the teams list.
Instead of the European giants, your tactics will be tested on the English Skrill premier teams.
Lets see how it goes when the smalls vs smalls. However I still manage the top four teams, based on media predictions.
So the tactics still get the advantage of getting better squad. Slightly better squad though.

Macey

Would love it if you can test out my 3 man defense tactic. Sorry I don't know how to directly attach the tactic in the comment.

Thanks guys! Since I already got the 8 tactics for ROUND 5 yesterday, so you both are in ROUND 6.
I just created the Skrill 'super' League. Hopefully the database will be playable. :)
