My player is paying me to pay?

I thought this might be worth a post seeing as that I have never come across this before (sorry if it is common knowledge!).

I signed a reserve keeper a few seasons ago and recently decided to give him a new contract. When I looked at what he was paid currently I found that he is on £-1 a week.... so he is paying me? LOL.
