one of my best player rarely responds to anything said in teamtalks etc. and his body language in matches is often complacent. i don't want to lose him but he doesn't really ever perform that well. i'm aware that this is my first season in the save and i've taken over a big club and probably don't have the reputation to earn his respect but does anyone know of any ways that i can give him a kick up the **** to get him listening or playing?

Lol. Wayne Rooney at Manchester United? It's tough to get the top players to listen to you, especially if they're ambitious and you're not yet established. Just go to 'Private Chat' of the player, and 'Criticize recent form'. Many times, they do tend to respond positively.

Whats your level? He might not respond to a manager he deems a worse player and not yet won anything etc etc.. the stroppy git.. lol.

i haven't won anything yet. still in my first season. i just hope that i can win something this season and gain his approval. i was asked who i thought would win the ballon d'or and he was in the list so i said him thinking i could boost his confidence a bit and build a bit of a relationship but it backfired and he reacted badly because he didn't feel worthy of my comment. i knew that was going to happen as soon as i did it. he responded well to criticism of form though.
