My saves dont save.

Well here's the thing, if i save it saves, but when i save and close the game and open it up again, its gone!

now i'm actually kind of scared to save right now at the moment so.. help would be helpful

Update: i think i know my issue, if i exit my game it always takes a while and i often resort to the task manager to close the game if the screen freezes. I went on a test save and went and played a month, exited and now waited for the game to exit on its own so i opened it up and i saw that it worked.
