1st post!!!!

Hello

I'm managing Sporting CP it's my 1st season and i created this tactic:

6EA0ACD9ABC7AFA1D28BD5D37D2BD7CBD57082AB

I'm playing Control \ Fluid and i'm currently 1st on the Portuguese Premiership and i'm in the Europa League i got 2 problems with this tactic:

1st of all my ST just doesn't score any goals, my goals are coming from the IF's (sometimes i change 1 of them to W), the AP and CM and my ST or doesn't do nothing or just passes the ball back to the AP. In some games i also play Exploit the Flanks. (if i see the LB\RB coming up or att)

2nd of all i'm suffering against bigger teams (Atletico de Madrid in CL) even thou im changing the tactics (the CWB to FB and Control to Standard and Fluid to Flexible and not using Push Higher Up)

I'm trying to create a 2 ST tactic also, and when i play it i have some sucess, but im unsure of the roles. Here it is: (playing Standard \ Flexible)

thx alot :)

In reply to your first question in reference your striker not scoring very often.
Your formation is very counter orientated. I would firstly remove 'look for overlap' as your cwb will always look to overlap in said role. Also In this formation, as you probably know, 2 IF's will tend to cut inside more often, especially when breaking after picking up possession. To help bring your st in the game more try early crosses and experiment with the type of cross. I play with Milan in a similar formation and Pazzini was very goal shy at first. Now he loves low crosses into feet when on the break to create more one on one chances. also try having one full back on support with the winger ahead of him on attack. then have the oppose on the other flank. it will help keep your shape when facing bigger teams. Also using a ball playing cb on the side of the attacking full bck will encourage drives forward.

I hope this helps

Ok just did your changes:

I removed: Look for Overlap
Added: Play out of Defense + Hit Early Crosses (then according too the ST i play Slimani (BIG GUY) i would do driven\float or Montero (smaller guy) low crosses\Driven)

Added: FB Support on the right with Winger Attack on the same side + CWB attack + Ball PLaying Defender (defend) + IF Support on the left side.

ST will remain AF - A

Well it looks nice "on paper" i'll check it in the next games!

thx man

On a side note:

Another user from other forum told me to remove the "play wider" since it will stretch my players and mess with my possession. That made alot of sense in my head and i removed it. So my Ball Possession in my last match was 62% :)

Team is playing nice (2 games played after changes)

The other user would be correct in saying so. With high seated wingers the game is already stretched mate. And your IF's are both switched on (positionally) and as we said before will tend to narrow the space on their respective wings by coming inside.

I'm glad can help. Im top of seria A with Milan in 1st season in January . Also using similar tacs and playing some fantastic football

:D any problems mate I'm here if u need me

and make sure the ball playing defender has good concentration, passing etc. easy mistake putting a limited defender in that role, causing silly mistakes

Im using Balanta, i know he has average passing (13), im gonna check concentration.
I can tell you i won the premiership and there was still 6 games left on the season :) Lost the Cup on the extra time :( and now im want some results on the CL, im working in a counter attack (defensive) structured alternative tactic for the big games in CL.

The same formation and same roles (thinking on changing the LB\RB too FB only. Exepct for CM that is a BWM Support
Using this instructions:

More Direct Passing
Pass into Space
Low Crosses (small ST) Driven Crosses (big ST)
Run at Defence
Exploits the Flanks (or the middle if opposing team doesnt have a Anchor Man)
Much Deeper Defensive Line
Close Down More
Stay on Feet
Higher Tempo
Be More Expressive

Should it work?

Balanta has 13 concentration!

Balanta is one of best CB's in the game so make sure he is training the role to a high level to get good results with him( He wll perform!). You should also be more disciplined in defensive formations, rather than expressive mate as they will focus on defending a lot more before making attacking moves happen. Also turn on 'clear ball to flanks' when against bigger teams. this will invariably encourage direct breaks on the counter when picked up by Nani or other wide men.

also BWM have set on defend and keep him back on all set pieces to clean up if caught out on corners etc

Also if u have not checked the wonder kids list yet. sign Luka Jovic. extremely cheap superstar striker, will develop really well in your formation as a sub striker

Don't have Nani anymore :( i never get money enough for a 2nd loan ;)
I do got Ben Arfa and Suso on loan ;)
Luka Jovic just signed for Perugia, and i never see the wonderkid list bc it feels like cheating ahhaah I do got Jimenez from Atletico de Madrid.
My team is currently a bit wiggle probably because of all the new players, im training Team Cohesion and Att Movement (and change it according too teams of scout recomendations)

I'll try the Counter Attack tactic has soon has it is Fluid, still gonna take a bit.

thx for the pointers once again

Seriously. How come you put William Carvalho at SC if in real life he always plays MDC like Matic plays in Chelsea for example? And you still want your forwards to score goals?? C'mon. You should really consider thinkin. ;)

P.S: I am from Portugal and I know William Carvalho doesn't play SC. You should put André Carrillo or Slimani instead of him.

What are you talking about?????

William Carvalho plays Anchor Man Defensive for me

ACTUAL TEAM (2nd Season)
---------------Jimenez (AF A)----------------
Suso (IF S) (loan)-------Hatem Ben Arfa (W A)
----------Rabiot (CM) -- Joao Mario (AP A)
----------William Carvalho (AM - D)-----------
Jonathan Silva (CWB A) - Balanta (BPD D) - Umtiti (D D) - Cédric (FB S)

So i really dont get what are you talking about.
