i play normal 4-4-2 with wrexham....2nd season (1st in L2) i finished 4th and lost in playoffs final, Only players i had signed at that point were David Lucas, Richie De Laet, Owain Warlow, Rostyn Griffiths (on loan), John Welsh, Sam Parkin, and Dean Bowditch.

Id say ur problem is uve signed too many players and don't play wingers.

I would agree with the other posts that you don't play with any width in the team. A 4-4-2 formation usually works well in the lower divisions (although not always)

I'm going for a

4-1-4-1 formation this season, i tryed it near the end of my last season and it worked well with my players.
need a real big clear out though!

If it works with your players, then definitely keep with it. It will give you width and will also be solid defensively.
