McCoist and Rangers part ways

Ally_McCoist_2248163b.jpg

Today the rangers board have announced the end of Ally McCoist’s reign in charge of Rangers, what we hear is that McCoist and Rangers have mutually agreed that it is time for the club to move on under a new manager.

McCoist came into some criticism towards the end of Rangers League One winning campaign as fans grew frustrated over his style of play and signings. McCoist has said he believes it is time he takes some time out of the game and see where he goes from there. The Rangers board have already praised the massive contribution that mcCoist has made at Ibrox as the loyalty he has shown has kept Rangers going through dark times. The board are now set to look for a replacement with many ex players being linked with the vacancy of which has been described as a ‘dream job’.

Stuart McCall and Terry Butcher both remain joint favourites for one to take over. The likes of Brian Laudrup, Barry Ferguson, Jorg Albertz and Michael Mols have all been linked, Paul Gascoigne is amongst the candidates but due to his health he is the least favourite to get the job.

Rangers have reacted quickly to bring in a new manager, club legend Stuart McCall will take over and expectations on him are big. The board have released a statement saying ‘from the moment we spoke with Stuart we knew he was our man’. This new appointment is hardly surprising as he was joint favourite for the job. McCall will take over immediately and look to build for the new season although McCoist has already brought in a number of new signings including Rangers favourites Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd.

McCall has already appointed his assistant which will be another Rangers legend, Jorge Albertz. Albertz was linked with the job but said he jumped to the chance to be McCall’s assistant. Kenny McDowall is the only staff to leave along with McCoist as his contract was mutually terminated when McCall arrived. McCall has also added Sasa Papac to his coaching team as McCall believes Rangers are a family club.

McCall’s first match will be Petrofac Training Cup match at home against Clyde followed by an away tie to East Fife in the League Cup. His first league match will be a huge one at home to Hearts.

The Season Begins!

Petrofac Training Cup 1st Round
Rangers 3 – 1 Clyde
Lewis MacLeod, Dean Shiels, Nicky Clark, Andy Gray

A comfortable start for Rangers under Stuart McCall but very much expected.

Scottish League Cup 1st Round
East Fife 1 – 6 Rangers
Kevin Smith, Nicky Law, David Templeton, Fraser Aird, Lewis MacLeod, Kenny Miller x2

A fantastic win for Rangers to really boost their confidence for the season ahead

Scottish Championship
Rangers 3 – 3 Hearts
Lewis MacLeod x2, Kenny Miller, Osman Sow, Billy King, Kevin McHattie

A frustrating one for Rangers here as they bossed it and were leading 3 – 1 but conceded twice in the last twelve minutes, big result for Hearts.

Petrofac Training Cup 2nd Round
Rangers 3 – 1 Falkirk
Kris Boyd x2, Dean Shiels, Olumide Durojaiye (P)

A game Rangers were expected to win and got there in the end, Boyd scoring his first goals of the season.

Scottish Championship
Falkirk 3 – 5 Rangers
Owain Tudor-Jones (P), Will Vaulks, Mark Gilhaney, Kris Boyd x4, Jamie MacDonald (OG)

Rangers allowed a two goal lead to slip again but this time had plenty of time to make up for it, a fantastic 4 goals for Boyd who was magnificent.

Scottish Championship
Rangers 5 – 0 Dumbarton
Kenny Miller, Ian Black, Marius Zaliukas, Nicky Law David Templeton,

Best performance yet as Dumbarton were hammered at Ibrox by an impressive Rangers side.

Scottish League Cup 2nd Round
Rangers 3 – 0 Dundee
Kris Boyd, Ian Black x2

Rangers highest ranked opponents of the season and they brushed them aside, easy done for Rangers in the end.

Scottish Championship
Rangers 5 -1 Queen of the South
Nicky Law, Kenny Miller x2, Marius Zaliukas, Kris Boyd, Derek Lyle

Another fantastic display by Rangers as they destroy Queen of the South.

Bad news for Rangers fans at the end of the month as David Templeton is ruled out for 3 months with a torn hamstring, he had been exceptional in the first month of the season. The good points to take from the first month see Stuart McCall win the manager of the month and Rangers top the league at the end of August. Long season ahead but an exciting one as Rangers are so close to being back at the top of Scottish football.

Apart from Hearts that was a great month there! should be back in no time mate!

September

Rangers continued their good league start with a decent win away to Raith who look good this season.

A nightmare for Rangers fans as Alloa score twice in the last three minutes to ****** a draw and leave the away fans shocked.

Scottish League Cup 3rd Round
Rangers 2 – 1 Motherwell (aet)
Kris Boyd, Lee Wallace, Iain Vigurs

A game where Motherwell should’ve had Rangers well beat but were poor infront of goal, Rangers clinched the winner through Lee Wallace in extra time against the run of play.

Scottish Championship
Rangers 3 – 4 Hibernian
Kenny Miller, Kris Boyd, Fraser Aird, Dominique Malonga, Jake Sinclair, Lewis Stevenson, Liam Craig (P) Marius Zaliukas & Lee McCulloch sent off

Stuart McCall’s first defeat as Rangers boss and it was a big one! Rangers begged Hibs back 3 times before Zaliukas unnecessarily brought down Handling for a pen and a sending off. Liam Craig scored it and shortly after McCulloch was sent off aswell.

Rangers needed to bounce back straight away and after a good performance from Livingston, Rangers got there in the end.

The league campaign continues to look strong with another win over Raith.

Ian Murray, Kris Boyd x2, Kenny Miller. Kris Boyd (MP)

Rangers beat Dumbarton away to bounce back, Boyd’s penalty miss makes no change in the end.

Scottish League Cup Quarter Final

Inverness were the better team and deservingly win in the end. Rangers out of a competition for the first time this season.

A mixed month for Rangers as they get to their first cup final under Stuart McCall where they will play Hearts! Big Game for both sides and both will be desperate to win.

Due to a problem my screenshots haven’t been working, but this problem seems to only not have saved my screenshots of the league! I’m unsure how to fix this as screenshots of everything else are fine just had problems with the league. If anyone can help me that would be great!
