Hello this is my first attempt at a story so please feel free to post any pointers :)

Breaking news coming out of Hillsborough today that Alan Irvine has resigned citing personal reasons. Rumours have it that since being unable to save the Owls from the drop the likeable manager had been questioning his managing capabilities. Sources inside Hillsborough suggest that the Owls may well look towards another experinced manager to help them bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking.A news conference is expected in the next few days to annouce Irvines successor

The current favourites to land the job are Gary Megson and Nigel Worthington, the pair can be backed at 4/1 with SkyBet. Megson would be a great choice considering the job he did at Bolton wasn’t bad at all whilst Worthington has always been one of the favourites for this job. SkyBet have some big names linked with the manager’s position, Darren Ferguson is just 9/2 with SkyBet whilst Gareth Southgate is 6/1 with SkyBet and Peter Reid is 14/1 with SkyBet.

Worthington set for Owls?

After the Alan Irvine's shock decision to step down from management, the bookies have named several managers as favourites to succeed Irvine, Nigel Worthington has come forward saying it would be an honour to manage one of his favourite clubs. A stumbling block could be that he is still under contract with the Irish FA having signed a new deal recently.
