Newcastle 2012, help!

Ok, have problem with my Newcastle save, is in december 2012 and only at 9:th place in the league. Have a pretty good team but cant make really make it. Last season though it went pretty good as i came at 6:th place. And in the summer i did some good transfers. I bought in Pjanic (he was unhappy), Diego Alves, Coutinho (on loan), Areola (on loan) and one really good regen.
This is my team now:

Goalkeepers: Diego Alves, Areola (on loan)

CB: Raphael Varane, Steven Taylor, John O'Shea
RB: Serge Aurier
LB: Jose Enrique
CDM: Yann M'vila, Owen Hargreaves, Cheick Tiote and Ante Sokic(regen)
CM: Paulo Henrique, Joe Barton, Danny Guthrie
AMC: Miralem Pjanic, Coutinho, Haris Vuckic (have developed a lot), Hatem Ben Arfa
Striker: Khouma Babacar.

How should i play? I currently played like this:
Aurier-Varane-Taylor-Enrique
------M'vila--Sokic-------
-----Paulo Henrique------
---Coutinho----Pjanic----
-------Babacar----------

What am I doing wrong? Help me PLS!

I've never been a fan of the narrow formations. Watch a full match against a team you think should beat you and take notice if they exploit the flanks unmarked. Also, You might need a stronger defense. Varane and Aurier are still very young and I don't think O'shea is very good. It may also be the player roles in your tactic that is hurting you. I'm terrible with making tactics so maybe someone else can help you there.

i find these new style player roles system is s**t so i convert to classic use the presets for players positions and i do really well try that

This is only speculation, but if my memory serves right, there's not too many good crossers there? Babacar is pretty much a target man, and as such, lives of good crossing.

More info of your system would help greatly, though. Pressing, duties, mentality etc etc.
