Unsurprisingly, there is already a keen manager at work trying to save Newcastle from Premiership extinction, and upon seeing this, I thought I'd give it a go. Wish me luck everybody!

Here's what I intend to do this season:

Win the Coca-Cola Championship

I've set this to be my only target, which is simply to finish top of the league at the end of the season. The media predicts a 1st place finish, but can I fulfil that prediction?

What I intend to show you: (please inform me of any other useful things I can show you)

Start of the season first team squad
Screenshots of new signings (if any)
Screenshots of every league and cup result
A brief summary on every league and cup match
Monthly updates of the league table

I will not bother giving screenshots of friendly matches, as I will not personally attend these. I am willing, though, to give a scoreline and scorer(s) (just take my word for it ;))

Let's Get Started!

Dale takes charge at Newcastle
The Newcastle board have today confirmed the appointment of Michael Dale as the new boss at St. James' Park.

Dale enjoys a growing reputation within football and it is hoped that his appointment will take Newcastle on to bigger and better things.

Argh, the site's been down since I posted this, that's why no progress has been made! lol

Dale delighted to take Newcastle hot-seat
Michael Dale appeared in an equivocal mood as he met journalists for his first press conference as the new manager of Newcastle United.

Dale said that he is pleased to have the chance to work at Newcastle.

It is thought that the Newcastle squad should react well to Dale's handling of the question.

This is how i have approached my newcastle team this year. I figured no transfer budget il go for loan signings, didnt really want to increase wages so left the freebies alone. so far ive signed Kiko Femenia plays from RB to AMR and is fast for the championship - he is a real gem, currently at herules and i got him for nothing on loan. Marquinhos everyone knows about this guy, but i bet you never thought youd get him on loan in the championship and not even have to pay a penny towards his wages he has scored 11 goals from midfield for me this season, finally another obvious one james vaughan again costs nothing and he has bagged 10 goals this season, i also signed shorey and harewood from villa on loan, i had to pay contributions to wages, edixon perea for half his wages for 6 months he did well john fleck from rangers didnt cost anything, odonkor from betis 50% of wages and danny holla from fc groningen all of which have been very good so far, i am unbeaten after 15 games and have sold the likes of geremi, ****, smith, ameobi, carrol and ryan taylor to balance the books and reduce the wages.

All in all im liking this game. until i ge promoted and loose all the time lol

More will follow soon :)

A few great captures there mate, wish you all the best for the rest of the season. Might take your advice, but don't want to sound like I'm copying others.
Thanks for the advice though!

Newcastle ‘a certainty’ for Coca-Cola Championship title
Michael Dale appeared in positive mood as he met journalists ahead of Newcastle United’s match against West Bromwich Albion in the Coca-Cola Championship.

A journalist from the Evening Chronicle chose the main focus point for the conference, asking, “Who do you think will win the Coca-Cola Championship title this season?”

Dale’s response was, “Newcastle United.”

It is thought that the Newcastle squad should react well to Dale’s handling of the question.

Saturday, 8th: West Brom 1 : 1 Newcastle United – Luke Moore (41) : Ebi Smolarek (26)

A pleasing result, but only because it was away at the Hawthorns. The odds were against Newcastle to win today, so a 1-1 draw is a good result. Ebi Smolarek scored a tap-in from a low Jonas cross on 26 minutes, and 5 minutes before the break Luke Moore equalised with an 18-yard strike. Newcastle managed to pull off 14 shots to West Brom’s 5, and with 6 clear cut chances, maybe we should have taken all the points.

Average rating: 6.85
Man of the Match: Scott Carson (West Brom), 7.9

Newcastle to play Leeds in Second Round
Newcastle United will play Leeds United in the English League Cup Second Round.

The game will be played at St. James’ Park on Wednesday 26th August 2009.

Leeds United won the competition for the only time in their 90-year history back in 1968.

Saturday, 15th: Newcastle United 4 : 1 ReadingShola Ameobi (26, 59), Alan Smith (49), Ebi Smolarek (54) : Khalifa Cisse (37)

A very satisfying performance by every single player, particularly Shola Ameobi, who managed to get on the scoresheet twice (has that ever happened before? :P). Captain Alan Smith and newly-signed Ebi Smolarek scored a goal each, 5 minutes between each other. Khalifa Cisse scored a cracking equaliser at 37 minutes. Peter Lovenkrands did well when he replaced Jonas on 48 minutes who got injured. In the end, Newcastle had 7 out of 15 shots on target, so 4 goals is a good return.

Average rating: 7.39
Man of the Match: Shola Ameobi (Newcastle), 8.4

Newcastle player named in Team of the Week
Alan Smith was selected in the Coca-Cola Championship Team of the Week first eleven.

Wednesday, 19th: Newcastle United 2 : 0 Sheffield WednesdayEbi Smolarek (pen 10), Shola Ameobi (38) Shola Ameobi sent off (75)

Two straight league victories for Newcastle United, and a good performance and satisfying result today see us go top of the league on goal difference. Ebi Smolarek converted a penalty after just 10 minutes, and Shola Ameobi doubling the lead on 38 minutes. After being named Man of the Match just 4 days ago, and also handed the award today, Ameobi will be disappointed to with his red card, but nonetheless a great result.

Average rating: 7.02
Man of the Match: Shola Ameobi (Newcaslte), 7.2

Saturday, 22nd: Crystal Palace 1 : 0 Newcastle United – Stern John (45+1)

A disappointing performance by Newcastle, and we really didn’t look like title contenders today. Fabricio Coloccini was the pick of the bunch for the Toon Army today, getting a 7.2 rating, but that didn’t stop Stern John scoring a header just before half time. Still early days yet, but if this away form continues, we won’t be pushing for the title.

Average rating: 6.75
Man of the Match: Nathanial Clyne (Crystal Palace), 7.3

Wednesday, 26th (League Cup): Newcastle United 4 : 2 Leeds United (AET)Kazenga LuaLua (9), Shola Ameobi (26, 116), Nile Ranger (110) : Jermaine Beckford (59), Jonathan Howson (72)

A game which I totally wasn’t bothered about, fielding a reserve team, along with a couple of players who returned from injury and Ameobi who returned after suspension. A good first half performance, along with a poor second, forced the game into extra time. Newcastle proved much stronger than Leeds during extra time, when Nile Ranger and Shola Ameobi struck a goal each to secure a place in the third round.

Average rating: 7.33
Man of the Match: Shola Ameobi (Newcastle), 8.5

Newcastle to play Brentford in Third Round
Newcastle United will play Brentford in the English League Cup Third Round.

The game will be played at Griffin Park on Tuesday 22nd September 2009.

The English League Cup, which has now been running for 48 years, was first won by Aston Villa in 1961.

Monday, 31st: Newcastle United 4 : 1 Leicester CityEbi Smolarek (17, 26), Steven Taylor (30), Alan Smith (54) : Yann Kermorgant (9)

After conceding an early first goal, I thought it was going to be another bad day for the Toon Army. But, with an Ebi Smolarek scoring a brace and a goal either side of half time by Steven Taylor and Alan Smith respectively, it was a resounding victory for the home team. The win puts us top of the league, which is pleasing seeing as we’ve lost and drawn matches.

Average rating: 7.50
Man of the Match: Ebi Smolarek (Newcastle), 8.6
