When I do mine, I play Lee Wallace as a winger and sign Ben Thatcher. There's also a good LB you can get on loan from Hull called Townsend, who is solid, and his contract never gets renewed, so he's available on a free. You could also get Bob Malcolm, who is similar to McCulloch in that he can cover DC, DMC, and MC, and is a very good passer but lacks pace big time.
