Nigeria International defender Olubsayo Adefemi was killed in a car crash yesterday, police in Greece have confirmed.

he Skoda Xanthi player lost control of his car while on his way to finalise details of his wedding. The 25-year-old was driving from Xanthi to Salonika in the Kavala region of northern Greece.

"The Super League and the entire Greek football family would like to express its deepest condolences and sympathy for the family of Olubayo Adefemi who died tragically in a car accident," a statement from the league organisers read.

Adefemi made 24 appearances for Xanthi with two goals to his name, and was capped three times for Nigeria.

Honestly, I have never heard of him, but still a terrible loss none-the less, 25 years old, with his best footballing years ahead of him. Great Shame.

RIP

No evidence of that so far, seems he lost control on a curve in the wet.

RIP lad

As a Nigerian it's a big loss to our country in terms of football as he was a rising star and becoming our first choice right back he will be missed by family friends and country

It really is. Can't remember a time when so many people in football/associatted with football have passed away. Really is staggering :(

RIP Olubayo. There are no nice deaths, but to die on your way to planning your wedding really is a massive shame :(
