Slovenian veteran Full-Back Martin Robertson has taken charge of Slovenian Second Division side NK Mura and has thus quashed specualtion he would take the reigns at Bolton, the club where he made his name in England.

The Story So Far,
Robertson was born to an English father and Slovenian mother in Aldershot, Hampshire. Robertson was spotted by scouts from Southampton youth academy while playing for his school team, but they decided not to offer him a youth contract. At this time Robertson was playing as a striker but his club manager realised that he was a very good tackler and thus tried him out at Right-Back. In his first game in his new position he seemed to sure up the defence and his club kept their first clean sheet in over a season. He seemed to excel in this role and his defensive qualities combined with the attacking skills he had learnt while playing as a striker meant he became a great attacking Full-Back.

When he turned sixteen he moved to the country of his mothers birth and joined up with local team Sobota United. Sobota United impressed in the league finishing 2nd and won the Regional Cup thanks to a Free-kick from the new Full-Back. This prompted Slovenian champions Maribor to make a move for the seventeen year old, and just two months later he made his home league debut against Domžale but made a disaster start by misjudging a long ball and deflecting the ball into his own net. This loss led to Maribor's season collapsing and Domžale winning the league, and this meant the Maribor boss lost his job. This lead to a mass clearout of the Maribor squad, including Robertson, who was then realeased.

Robertson went on to play for Bolton and helped them to win the FA cup with one of his trademark free-kicks, and also helped them to qualify for europe on more than one occasion, a brief spell at Arsenal was ended after he couldn't break into the first team because of RB Bacary Sagna. He then returned to Bolton where he never really hit the heights he acheived while playing at Bolton earlier. He still won player of the season 3 times at Bolton throughout his whole career at The Wanderers.

His international career was on a par with his early Bolton form, representing Slovenia on 41 occassions, it probably would have been more but a despute between England and Slovenia took a while to resolve as the player was trying to decide which country to play for. His only international goal came against The Scots in a 2-1 victory in Ljubljana which meant Scotland failed to qualify for the World Cup as they missed out on a play-off place by 2 points.

Robertson played out the rest of his career at Bolton before settling down with his family in his home country of Slovenia.

Now the intro has been completed it's time to get onto the managing part, Mura have been given a 45k transfer and a wage budget of 7k p/w. I have set the team a target of Top-half finish, and hope we could push on for promotion. But one major concern is that we need to strengthen our defence. More coming soon (H)

Vermes on his way to Murska Sobota!
Hungarian Right-Back Krisztián Vermes has signed for Slovenian Second division side NK Mura to become the first signing of Martin Robertson's new regime. Robertson described Vermes as "a quality player who's long throws may prove vital for our title challenge." There is speculation that Robertson will attempt to sign former Ukraine international Vladyslav Vaschuk from Ukrainian club Irpin, but he will have to fight off interest from Dinamo Kiev and FC Twente amongst other clubs.

Aldershot isn't in hampshire

Mura Put Malecnik to the Sword
NK Mura hammered Malecnik at their home ground of Fazanerija as they completly dominated possesion wise, and even though they scored just two goals in the 2-0 victory Robertson was pleased with a performance that produced 19 shots from the home side, and better finishing would surely have given Mura a very comprehensive victory. Second half goals from Ivan Filipovic and Darko Kremenovic sealed the victory. Kremenovic had a goal disallowed in the first half as well for offside but Robertson hopes his team will push on from this victory.

10 Man Mura Massacre Hapless Kranj
One thing that was picked out as a negative form Mura's last game was their failure to turn their possesion into goals, no such problem today as they put Five past their opponents. First half goals from Slavic, Kremenovic and Kljajic gave Mura a strong lead going into the interval, and thus Robertson threw his reserve players in to fray, and soon enough stand-in LM Vogrincic scored to make it 4. Centre-Half Filipovic was then sent off for a second yellow card, but despite being reduced to 10 men Mihael Jerebic sealed the win.

Marvelous Mura Pulverise Poles
A performance similar to our first freindly match, plenty of shots and possession but the chances weren't put away, and the Polish team (Stal St. Wola) took the lead through a penalty from Piotr Olszewski on the 20 minute mark, but this seemed to wake us up, and Darko Kremenovic scored again and he seems like he will be a player who will be vital throughout the season. The rest of the game saw complete dominance from us, but we couldn't put our chances away, until Goran Ristic scored a curling shot from distance in stoppage time to seal a 2-1 victory. Even though we are having an abundence of shots, the majority of them seem to be going off target, and if we are going to compete in the league we really need to get take our chances.

a good start mate, love stories like this, keep it up

Glorious Goran Gifts Mura Win
A fantastic performance against another Polish side, this time Korona Kielce, was topped off with a hat-trick from Goran Ristic who scored all 3 of our goals in a 3-0 victory at home. I was very pleased that we managed to force more saves from the goalkeeper instead of hitting a shot a couple of miles wide, and was even more pleased that we limited them to just 2 shots on goal. Overall a very good win and this is encouraging for the new season.
