No Tactic is working

Why plug&play tactics should be called break the game&win tactics. And why players such as these guys have such a problem now.

The most popular tactics uploaded here work. The most popular ones always work. They are created by all the usual suspects every year, and they are good at it. But by always going with those you are facing the same that anybody would. You have never learned to play. Actually ou have never needed to manage. Every such tactics relies on bugs and limited AI opponents to score the same cheap goals all over. So it doesn't matter how mediocre your players were, if they have off days, what you give them for dinner, or anything. The same cheap goals will grant you results no matter what. People argue Sports Interactive had ironed out all the exploits, but that's not true. That's why those tactics grant such fantastic fantasy scores and records. Can be fun, is still breaking the game. Rather than waiting months every release until somebody has created a super tactic, you might as well have gone into the editor, boosted your account, whatever gave you the edge. It's an advantage opposition never catches up with of a different means. But at the bottom it's the same thing. Not a bad thing! But it is what it is. Calling those tactics plug&play has been a misnomer. It was and is more like plug&win.

This can be off putting to hear but needs to be said. At the moment there is options. Trying to learn a game you thought you could play anew... Else you would have quickly adopted to each release. Further downloading the tactics, they still work but need updating with each release for obvious reasons... or trying if you're ok with the assistant managers. I mean managers work with assistants in fotball too right? You can keep things tactically simple, but what you won't be able to replicate is a game breaker tactics effortless wonder achievements. Once you're through it all,if you have an ounce of interest in match management, which includes occasionally deciding when to go for the second goal or better protect what you have, you may find the game a richer experience. The players you scout and develop matter some. The results you get are your own. And as a side effect, you may find you are getting far lesser cases of being FM'd, as most the cases of "being FM'd" is an exploit tactics being found out for relying mainly on exploits to score. If not you can go back for now.

I may be wrong to assume this but it seems the older generation of FM gamer(I fall into that category) tend to not like the tactical aspect of the game.
Back in the days of Championship Manager all you had to worry about was what player to pick so in that regard the gamers from that period are stuck in that frame of mind.
I myself used to be like that but in recent years I've found further enjoyment from the game by developing a squad of players regardless if I'm successful or not.
Can't say I'm a great FM player despite my 20 odd years playing the game...but for me If i just downloaded tactics to bring me success It defeats the object of the game or am i just being a purist?

Nah, whatever makes your boat afloat! However those tactics are doing far more than just letting you concentrate on team building, which seems rarely understood. And by the point it's understood it's oft rather late... Arguably for that SI Games have coded assistant managers and their optional FM Touch match plans into the game. I've recently somewhere seen some SI staff describing how he plays, and it's super simple. Maybe one day they will upgrade those, you just have to request it if you have an idea. Same as you could exploit the wibwob (with/without ball) on Champ Man, so you can exploit stuff in here. CM has been the one series where the stuff you put into match days made a difference ever since the first few incarnations. It's naturally gotten more complex. The nature of the beast is that this can simply be exploited. On games such as The Manager on Commodore Amiga this was impossible, as above playing better players, all the (simple) tactical options were entirely placebo (still enjoyed trying the various formations :D). Either you developed the squad, or you were never promoted. One of those was my first before any CM. Curiously, my very first CM I found underwhelming, as compared to The Manager there wasn't really much stuff to do... despite the heavy focus on the sports itself, tactics weren't yet much developed, and on games such as The Manager you had all the optional financial parts which will never be a part of FM (merchandising, ticket prices, stadiums,...) . :)
