Hi,
I was wondering whether anyone with experience could tell me whether i would be better off signing all round quality or specific quality players, young players or older players and non contracts or contracted players for my club because i have tried to use non contracted players but then they have been stolen from me and i have been unable to find another player good enough whos willing to sign on a non contract so i was wondering if i am going about it in the right way?

Thanks

For Non-league the most important attributes for players will be their mental attributes like bravery and determination. This is especially so for strikers, I've had players with 6 for finishing scoring 20+ goals a season because their determination was so high.
It's always best to sign players on contracts over non-contracts as they're more secure. However given that in this game it's nigh on impossible to sell players for a decent fee if you're in the lower leagues then there isn't a massive difference apart from guaranteeing that your player will stay for the season.
It's important to have a mix between experienced and younger players. Experienced players will be expensive but will have better mental attributes and will be more consistent and less likely to get nervous in big games. Younger players (especially under 18s) will ask for much less money and will help you beef up your squad on a low budget. I would go for an experienced keeper and striker as your two highest earners as they will be your two most important players, then maybe one or two more older players and the rest can be made up of promising youngsters.
It's important to keep your club in 'the black', not losing money. Your board will set you a budget but this is usually too large and will see your club lose more and more money over time. If you're planning a long-term save at the club then you need to budget for breaking even rather than within your agreed wage/transfer budget.
My final tip if you haven't realised it yet is that you can often sign contracted players from semi-pro clubs by offering them ?0 and is always worth starting your bidding with these clubs at that figure. If that fails then just sign players without clubs as it's not worth paying any sort of fee at this level.

Hope that helps.
