December Update

Northampton 2-0 Hereford
Scorers:
Brandy
O.G.

Northampton started December with a solid home win against Hereford. The snow was falling and the orange ball was out, but this didn't stop glove wearing hot-shot Febian Brandy opening the scoring on 20 minutes. The weather conditions severely effected the game and Northampton had to resort to lumping the ball up to target man Akinfenwa for Brandy to feed off. Northamptons second came after the break when a Lucien Mettomo header from a corner struck the post and then hit the Hereford keeper on the back and rolled into the net.

Cheltenham 1-3 Northampton
Scorers:
Brandy
Albrighton
Mettomo

Cheltenham were next to host league leaders Northampton at a snow covered Whaddon Road, the game almost didn't go ahead however a big effort from the home fans managed to get the game on. However, they were probably wishing they hadn't as the first half was far from a spectacle. The game came to life shortly after the restart when Febian Brandy helped himself to yet another league goal on 57. Cheltenham hit back immediately from the kick off through Justin Richards. Northampton continued to press on for a second goal and potentially a winner which they justly got through on loan winger Marc Albrighton on 84mins. Lucien Mettomo added a 3rd which rubber stamped the win in added on time.

Northampton 2-1 Port Vale
Scorers:
Mettomo
Akinfenwa

Port Vale were the next opponents for Town as they made the journey south to play at Sixfields. Although it was Northampton who played they'd just got off the bus as it was Port Vale who took an early lead on 15mins when ex-Cobbler Marc Richards scored for the visitors. After some strong words in the dressing room at half time from manager Timms the Northampton players started the second half with a completely different attitude and were soon level when Mettomo bagged his second goal in 2 games after a goal mouth scramble that came from a corner. Northampton have had a habit of scoring late winners recently and it took until the 82nd minute again today for them to grab a winner through Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Darlington 1-1 Northampton
Scorer:
Albrighton

This game couldn't have started better for Northampton as they took the lead through Albrighton after 30 seconds and at that point Timms thought it was going to be a walk in the park. However this was not the case as Darlington equalised on 14mins. After the early action the game seemed to evaporate into nothingness and their is nothing else to say about this game apart from Timms went home disappointed.

Northampton 0-0 Grimsby

Back to back disappointments for Timms' men against 2 of the weakest teams in the league. Northampton simply couldn't stick the ball in the net even after the visitors went down to 10 men.

Northampton 3-1 Dagenham and Redbridge
Scorer:
Brandy (2)
Mettomo

Northampton got back to winning ways today with a home win against Dagenham. Febian Brandy found his scoring boots once again and beat the offside before rounding the keeper to place the ball into the empty net. Dagenham swiftly clawed back the deficit 3mins later through Josh Scott to make the scores level at 1-1. Despite Dagenham dominating the rest of the half the sides went in level. After the break Northampton came back into the game and eventually retook the lead through Brandy on 67mins. Northampton controlled possession after re-taking the lead and eventually got a 3rd through Lucien Mettomo.

Barnet 0-2 Northampton
Scorer:
Brandy (2)

Northampton travelled to Underhill looking to continue to get their form back on track. A dull first half resulted in the two sides going in at half time level at 0-0. The game looked destined for a stale mate until Brandy turned on the style once again to grab a goal for the Cobblers on 82minutes. Brandy then went on to get his second of the game on 90 with a fantastic solo effort. At times it seems like Brandy is carrying the weight of Northamptons title bid on his own shoulders.

Febian Brandy - 20 Goals, and also the league player of the month. Brandy has been on sensational form throughout December, scoring 6 goals in December alone.

In The News:

Month Overview:

December was a decent month for us, we remained unbeaten all month and picked up 5 wins along the way and just 2 draws. Febian Brandy and Lucien Mettomo's form has been particularly pleasing. The squad is pretty strong and with January just around the corner i don't think we are going to be that active in the transfer market.
