Jordan Archer Signs for Notts County

Jordan Archer has signed for Notts County for a free transfer. Archer hasn't played a competitive game of football since being release by Millwall in 2019. He then spent a season at both Oxford United and Fulham without making an appearance. He made his solitary appearance for Scotland in 2017 against Peru in a friendly. He will be the first team regular with Notts County so he may find himself in with a change of making the national team again.

Its another impressive month for us as we win every game. We get another win over Brentford to start the month in the Checkatrade Trophy but its just not as good as the last time we played them sadly. Geubbels gets his first goal for the club in the win against Scunthorpe to open his account. We're breaking him in slowly while he gets use to the language and regains fitness. The win against recently relegated Bolton was even more impressive as we had gone down to 10 men in the 23rd minute. The really impressive result though was in the Carabao cup where we faced Sheffield United in the 3rd round. We took the lead through a header from Zech Medley in the 38th minute before Kieron Freeman equalised in the 72nd minute to take the tie to penalties where we won 4-1 to make it to the 4th round where we will now face QPR.

Senior Affiliate

We have a secured a new Senior Affiliate which I feel will suit us better than our previous affiliation with Leeds. We should be able to get some good youth coming in on loans which we will look to take advantage off at the next opportunity.

Another perfect month and its made even better in the fact that we only concede 3 goals. It just shows how important the signing of Jordan Archer has been so far. The league nobody can cope With is at all and we are managing just to grind out results when we haven't been playing at our best. In the Checkatrade Trophy we got a good win against Manchester City U23s. The big game of the month though was against QPR in the Carabao cup where we fell 1-0 behind after only 3 minutes and alarm bells started ringing but Ben Reeves put in a man of the match performance getting both our goals in the 34th and 57th minute to see us progress to the Quarter Finals where we will travel to face Wolves. We have defied all expectations in the cup and been earning good money from it.

Crazy how easy you're finding League Two to be. It's quite weird how Leagues 1 & 2 and the National League seem to be easy to get out of yet the Championship and Premier League have been a lot more difficult for me on this FM. Also you're bound to get some quality loans from Chelsea, they're also producing world-class regens

Yeah I think League 1 we could win with this squad as well so Championship will be the big test I reckon. Hopefully we can take full advantage of our link with Chelsea next season.

November brings around the start of the FA Cup for us here we face Dulwich Hamlet where we found ourselves 2-0 down after 30 minutes. Luckily the team managed to rally together t half time and our superior fitness showed as we managed to ally and score 6 goals in the 2nd half by the 71st minute to give us a good win. In the league we dropped some points against Newport where again we fell behind but managed to grind out a draw before bouncing back against Cheltenham.

In the 2nd round of the FA Cup we welcomed Barnet where we rotated the squad to give other people a chance and walked out 3-1 winners and we will now be in the FA Cup again in the new year where we have a favourable draw against Yeovil.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson Signs for Notts County

Former Manchester United graduate Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has been signed up by Notts County here he is expected to be a first team player. Borthwick-Jackson made his Manchest United debut in the 15/16 season here he made 10 appearances but wasn't able to kick on from there. Most recently turned out for Oldham Athletic last season where he made 39 appearances in the league.

It was all going so well this month until the final game of the season against Southend United where we finally suffered our first loss of the season. With only a days break between 2 games it just proved too much and our squad depth wasn't enough to see us through the game once we went down to 10 men just before half time thanks to Inniss being sent off. Of course the loss came against a team that was just above the relegation places.

The month also say us knocked out of the Carabao Cup against a good Wolves side and the fact that we only lost 2-0 says a lot about our team. We also made it past Rotherham in the Checkatrade Trophy to make it to the 3rd round where we will travelling to face Sunderland.

Youth

It looks like we might have an ok youth intake again and hopefully we can get 1 or 2 decent players through.

Smashing it mate and that link with Chelsea could prove pivotal over the next couple of seasons! Keep up the good work!

Smashing your way through League 2 my dude, top work. Geubbels is an unreal signing, can't imagine you hanging on to him for too long!!

I reckon League 1 will be the same. I reckon we'll hang onto him or he'll have to go for a big amount.

In January we return to FA cup action with a nice easy tie against Yeovil where we run ut nice 2-0 winners to set up a big money tie against Brighton. The game against Brighton we play at home Geubbels shows his quality by getting the opening goal just before half time but White gets the equaliser just after half time and the game ends 1-1 and we get a reply in Brighton. In the league we get back to winning ways with winning every game going and winning them comfortably well apart from Plymouth where we had to come back from behind twice. We also got a superb win over Sunderland in the Checkatrade Trophy to show how far ahead we are in terms of progress and squad development.

Transfers Out

lUSessa.png

We have 6 players leave the team in this window. It was sad to see Sloth go with how important he was for us last season but he spent most of this season injured so we cashed in on him. We also sold top prospect Matt Brown to Norwich for £2 million plus 50% of next sale. At the moment we won't stand in the way of our young players moving onto a better team until we can develop them better and offer them the level of football that they need.

Angus Gunn Signs for Notts County

Notts County have only made one signing in this transfer window and boy did they go big as even though they have an established No 1 in Jordan Archer who has been ruled out for two months they have secured the signature of Angus Gunn on the final day of the transfer window. Gunn had been transfer listed by Southampton and had only played 19 games for them since he completed his £10 million move from Manchester City in 2018. Gunn was transfer listed for £500,000 but with the need of a new keeper Notts County agreed a deal for £2.6 million but that will include Southampton paying £30,000 of his wages until 2023.

It may seem like a lot of money for a League 2 to spend on a keeper but with how things are going he should be an experienced keeper by the time we reach the Premier League and saves us having to find a new keeper by then.

The month starts off with the replay in the FA Cup where we travel to Brighton and what a game it is. We get to full time sitting at 0-0 before falling 1-0 down in the 3rd minute of extra time before we pulled it back in the 96th minute before we got the winner in the 98th minute to see is through to the 5th round where we will be facing Stoke City. The month also saw us reach the final of the Checkatrade final with good wins against Middlesbrough and Fleetwood Ton and we will now meet Arsenal U23's in the final.

The League form this month has been excellent this month with us picking up 15 points from 15. The big win though was against Crawley where the win sealed our promotion up to League 1 before the win against Exeter was enough to see us up as Champions with 10 games remaining. The hard work starts now to get the team ready for League 1 and we will be looking to the expiring contracts again at the end of the season.

A good budget for getting promoted and we will be looking to make the most of it.

Its been a busy month where we've managed to fit in 2 FA Cup games and 6 league games. In the FA Cup we started by welcoming Stoke to Nottingham where goals from Boldewijn and Geubbels saw us through to the next round where we faced Charlton. Against Charlton they pulled it back twice but we managed to get the third. Geubbels scored an excellent brace and Reeves scored in between the two goals from Geubbels. We now progress to the Semi final where we will face Arsenal at Wembley.

In the league is was as straight forward as usual where against Mansfield, Newport and Carlisle we scored goals for fun and our defence was solid as well (Well apart from the Carlisle game. Angus Gunn has had a good first month for us as well keeping 4 clean sheets which will hopefully be the first 4 of many over the next few seasons.

The youth intake looks like we have one good prospect coming through and hopefully one day we might see him making his first team debut.

What a way to finish off the season but with 4 wins in the league. The final game of the season the board decided to throw a fan day and we had a bumper crowd in our final games against Morecambe and we gave the fans exactly what they wanted with a great 3-0 win. We also had the Checkatrade Trophy final against Arsenal U23's to look forward to and I'm glad to say they couldn't handle us as we were the much better team. We did fall behind to a Saliba header in the 9th minute before Hamilton got us back on level pegging and then Reeves put us ahead on the strike of half time. Guebbels then put the game to bed with 9 minutes remaining to make sure we won the double this season.

In the FA cup final Arsenal really showed they were the better team with beating us 2-0 with goals from Lacazette and Almiron but Gunn saved us from getting really hammered as he manged to only concede 2 goals when they had 11 shots on target.

End of Season Awards

Cole nearly gets a clean sweep with only losing out on Goal of the Season to Reeves. Cole has been instrumental for us this season pulling the strings from midfield and will still be there next season to do the same.
