19 games - 30 points - 7th place : "Ciao Bortolo Mutti!"

Only 30 points in last 19 games, was simply not good enough for recently relegated Atalanta, who was looking to 'walk through' serie B, but instead they are struggling in the mid-table. And the caouse of that was todays meeting of board and chairman and they decided to sack Mutti, who lead team for about a year and only manged to get them relegated.

NEWS_1271515382_mutti.jpg

Mutti's last game against Modena

Name of his succsessor will be known after new year, becaouse of the christmas holidays the negotiations for new Atalanta manager are stopped. Trainings will be lead by Mutti's assistant manager Marco Savorani, but Savorani isn't listed as a possible candidate for role of a manager.

Who will replace him ?

Rok Novosel will lead Atalanta to glory

The ship of Atalanta which was lead by Mutti has flown into some dangerous waters of not returning to top flight football. By the opinion of the chairman Antonio Percassi this inexperienced 40-year old will give the squad some good old balkan rules that every team needs: hard work, order, discipline.

Novosel was choosen ahead of some more known football managers like Jacques Santini, Jean Tigana

Novosel will arive in Bergamo tomorrow morning, where he will meet his staff and and the players at the club. After the morning training he will turn his attention to the media, who will ask him questions in the press confrence room.

As Mutti didn't left much behind, Novosel will have to do it all. Adjust players to the new way of thinking, set new tactics and have a sit down with his assistant manager how to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window.

*If you could give me some questions ( max 2-3 ) for the press conference ( pretend like you are a reporter )

This is quite good...will follow from time to time

And the questions:
1) as the new manager what are you hoping
to achieve here?
2) will we be seeing any new faces joining your squad?
3) why do you think you deserve to be sitting here today, surely it
is a gamble BRinging you 'on board the ship'?

;)

Press conference at arival of the new manager

Reporter Zaiaz

As the new manager what are you hoping to achieve here ?
I hope to achieve promotion, but it's going to be very hard with Mutti not left much behind. If make this happen in Serie A we will target a safe mid-table position and eventualy going to Europe.

Will we be seeing any new faces joining your squad ?
Former manager made some quite good transfers, but he couldn't cash them. So to answer your question, no, we won't be seeing anyone new at the squad.

neimenovana.png

Some good transfers made by Mutti

Why do you think you deserve to be sitting here today, surely it is a gamble bringing you 'on board the ship' ?
Becaouse of the faith of chairman that he has put in me and I'm determined to show him that his faith wil payoff. Me cruising the ship ? Gamble ? No, I will do my best and more to bring this club where it belongs to.

Sky Sports reporter

On what players do you count the most ?
I will put my greatest hopes in some golden oldies like Cristiano Doni, Jari Litmanen, Fabio Caserta and some promising young players like Nicola Madonna, Edgar Baretto, Marco Verratti.

_2014361_doni300.jpg

Novosel will still count on him

What do you think was the main reason for underachieving Atalanta ?
Main reason I think, that they went to 'casual' in to the season, thinking they can beat anyone without trying and it kinda backfired on them. Secondary reason is Mutti's couldn't get the best out of his players, for e.g. he played Doni on left winger position, while he is a natural playmaker.

Goal.com reporter

What's your tactical approach ?
My tactical approach is controling, wide and quick football. I will use an 4-2-3-1 formation, with two inside forwards. I don't tend to change formations, or players for that matter, so the players who start my first game against Cittadella can count on for playing for the main part of season, of course if there will be injuries we will make forced alterations.

postava.png

Novosel's preferred formation

What about your staff ? Are you happy with them, or will you bring some reinforcements to headquarters ?
Yes, of course we only have 6 coaches, out of possible 11. We are already negotiating a contract with Rober Prosinečki a legendary Croatian midfielder, who played for the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Also high on our list 'to bring' is Massino Bonini, San Marino defender and now a very good coach.

Shock! Egypt appoint Novosel as their new manager!

After poor performances at African Cup of Nations of not reaching the semi-finals of the competition and failing to qualify for World Cup in South Africa, Egyptian FA has decided to sack Hassan Shehata and employ Rok Novosel as new manager. President of the Egyptian FA: "We choose Novosel becaouse of his managerial strategies and his successes at Atalanta which curent stand at 8 games unbeaten. We hope that he will bring some freshness in our game and squad. We wish him good luck."

HassanShehata_2317758.jpg

Poor performances cost him his job

Novosel comment at appointment: I'm very happy to be new manager of Egypt, they have very good players capable of achieving great heigts and I will be their guide to them.

Novosel's first test will be a friendly game against England.

So do you guys even like this story or what.. Not alot of comments, I'm just saying.
I have put alot of effort into this story and it haven't picked up much interest.
How can I change it to make it more interesting or do you suggest some other club to do story with ?

Tnx for answers.

Fantastic layout, just saw this story, and read it all through. Some nice results and transfers, and I like the team pick very much. I have no idea why you haven't got very much followers. I love the story so far to be honest, and I'd wish you to continue. It's up to you what are you going to do.

EDIT : Who do you use Verratti as ?
