Redknapp resigns!​

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has today announced his descision to step down. It comes as a big shock to the footballing world however it is believed to have been on the cards for a while. It is thought Harry was keen to spend more time with his family and was after a much needed break from the stress that comes with being a premiership manager. Redknapp took Tottenham from relegation candidates to there highest ever premiership finish and with that got Spurs into the champions league for the first time in there history. It is unclear whether he will return to football management in the future but for now he will be sorely missed.​

Two more step down!​

Harry Redknapps resignation has lead to more casulaties at white hart lane as two more key members of staff have followed him out the door. Assistant manager Kevin Bond and first team coach Clive Allen have both decided to move on. Both stating that they feel the new manager should bring in his own staff and that they are also looking for a break from the game and then hopefully a new challenge at some point in the future. This news leaves the backroom staff looking bare and with pre season fast approaching the hunt for a manager now seems even more important.​

Outsider takes the hotseat!​

It has been confirmed today that 25/1 outsider George Ripton has landed the Tottenham Hotspurs managers job. The rookie manager beat off a whole host of top names to land the role. It will be his first managers job having previously worked with the Spurs academy and reserves team. However many will be dissapointed with this appointment especially as Spurs enter the champions league for the first time, only time will tell whether this was a big mistake or a stroke of genious by chairman Daniel Levy.​

Youth is the future!​

That is the message coming out of the new managers first press conference. Having worked with the academy and reserves in the past he is looking to invest in these and is also looking to bring in the his own stars of tomorro. It is believed that Ripton has been handed a tasty budget due to the champions league revenue however he is determined not to waste the money and will look to make every penny count. He also outlined his targets for the coming season and another top four finish was the aim, whether or not the team are capable of reproducing last years form remains to be seen.​

Backroom revamp at the lane​

New manager George Ripton has already put his own stamp on the club by totally revamping the clubs backroom staff. Scottish legend Ally McCoist will be the new number two replacing Kevin Bond who recently resigned. In charge of the players fitness will be spanish coah Manuel Delgado Meco and Andy Renshaw. Whilst west Ham academy expert Tony Carr comes in and will be heavily involved with the U18's. The reshuffle doesnt stop there also coming in are Manchester United coaches Paul McGuinness, Brian McClair and Warren Joyce aswell as Fabio Capello's right hand man Franco Baldini. Tim Sherwood, Jamie Redknapp, Tony Parks, Pat Jennings and Joe Jordan all remain in there positions however Les Ferdinand will move on to Newcastle.​

Tottenham have pulled of the signing of Everton and England centre half Phil Jagielka. The 27 year old joins for a reported fee of £11'000'000 and the signing will go a long way in reasuring the Spurs fans who have been slightly concerned by the appointment of rookie manager Ripton. Everton fans will be left gutted though as yet again another one of there top players moves on to premiership rivals following last years departure of Jolean Lescott.​

The deal will cost Jose Mourinho a reported £12'000'000 and the spurs fans reaction to the deal has been pretty mixed so far. Competition for places upfront is pretty hight at white hart lane with Defoe, Crouch and Pavyluchenko however it is not going to be much easier nailing down a starting spot at the bernabau. In other news reserve team goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has also signed for Reading in a £800'000 deal, the keeper never really fulfilled his early promise but is looking to get his career back on track at the royals.​

Wickham a real bargain!​

Spurs have made there second signing of the season bringing in the highly rated Ipswich Town striker Connor Wickham. The 16 year old signs for Spurs for a fee of just £1'700'000 which could well be a real bargain if Connor develops into the player that most expect he will do. Connor has already represented his country at U19 level after breaking into the Ipswich Town side. Its not know what Riptons plans are for the youngster but im sure the fans will be delighted with this signing.​

Loach makes it three​

Spurs have made there third signing in this space of a week, bringing in England U21 goalkeeper Scott Loach. Loach joins from Watford for a fee of £2'700'000. Scott just like Connor Wickham is one of Englands leading youngsters and will be a replacement for Ben Alnwick who recently left for Reading. With Gomes and Cudicini already at the club its unlikely he will figure alot during the first season but is definetly one for the future.​

One in one out at the lane​

Another day and another hot prospect from the championship has joined Tottenham Hotspur, It comes as Miles Addison joins from Derby County for £3'800'000. Miles is another England U21 international and the young centre back follows in the foot steps of new team mate Tom Huddlestone who also came through the youth team at Derby before being snapped up by Spurs. Going the other way is young full back Kyle Walker who is heading down to Portsmouth for a season long loan.​

Pre Season begins with a bang in the States!​

San Jose 1-6 Tottenham​

Riptons first game in charge went perfectly as Spurs beat San Jose 6-1. Luka Modric opened the scoring with a penalty in the 8th minute, Bale then smashed in two more goals inside the first half hour. Peter Crouch then netted just before halftime to make it 4-0 to the visitors. Spurs changed all eleven men at half time but the scoring continued Roman Pavlyuchencko bagged a goal four minutes after the restart. San Jose then had Andre Luiz sent of on the 70th minute mark for his second bookable offence, Giovani Dos Santos then rapped up the scoring for spurs just before a consolation goal from Michael Kelly for the home side.​

Villa lose Delfouneso to Spurs​

Aston Villa have sold there promising striker Nathan Delfounseo to Tottenham Hotspurs. Nathan is one of Englands brightest prospects and will be a big loss to the villans. However Tottenham where made to cough up for the youngster with the deal reported to be in the region of £11'000'000. Many believe this will be more than worth it though in the coming years and believe Ripton has bagged a real gem.​

Spurs looking good​

Wycombe 1-3 Tottenham​

Spurs made it two wins from two after brushing aside Wycombe Wanderes 3-1. The score however completely flattered the home side who where totally outplayed. Niko Kranjcar put Tottenham 1-0 up in just the third minute. Wycombe grabbed a equaliser on the twenty minute mark through Ian Westlake, after that though it was all spurs and Peter Crouch put them ahead just before half time. Once again Ripton changed all eleven at half time and Danny Rose scored a belter similiar to his last goal against Arsenal, to make it 3-1.​

Bassong leaves for first team football​

Tottenham centre back Sebastien Bassong has moved to Genoa on a season long loan with a view to a permanent deal. It is thought that Ripton couldnt guarantee Bassong first team football at the club and has allowed him to move on. Spurs have already brought in Phil Jagielka and with Dawson, King and Gallas already at the club, plus the injured Jonathan Woodgate it is clear to see why Bassong was worried.

Tour of Portugal goes smoothly​

Feirense 0-3 Tottenham​

FC Porto 1-1 Tottenham​

Tottenham started there pre season tour of Portugal with a convincing 3-0 win over Feirense. Jermain Defoe opened the scoring just two minutes in. Pedro Lourenco then put the ball into his own goal just before half time to make it two. Ripton then made eleven changes and the third goal came from promising Hounduran striker Anthony Lozano.​

Next up was a real tough test against FC Porto, after a goalless first half Ripton yet again changed the whole side at half time and it paid off when Roman Pavlyuchenko fired in the first goal of the game. This was quickly councelled out ten minutes later when colombian striker Falcao netted for Porto. The game ended 1-1 and it was another good run out for the squad with the season fast approaching.​

Promising young goalkeeper Alex Smithies has signed for Tottenham from Huddersfield for a fee of £650'000, however he will be sent straight back out on loan to championship side Reading. With Gomes, Cudicini and new signing Scott Loach already at the club Alex would not of seen alot of first team action so in order to aid his development this has been seen as the best idea for everybody involved.​

Moses in but nobody else!​

Tottenham manager George Ripton has once again splashed the cash by bringing in England U21 and Wigan winger Victor Moses. The deal is reported to be around the £12'000'000 mark and this comes just six months after Wigan signed him for just £2'500'000. Ripton has said though that Moses will be the last player brought in this window and he is very pleased with the current squad.​

Tottenham pulled of a good solid victory away from home at the Britannia stadium. They got of to the worst possible start when Kenwyne Jones headed in after just two minutes. For the rest of the half Stoke pilled on the pressure, Spurs where not at the races. Then after a grilling from manager George Ripton at half time they managed to turn it around, Aaron Lennon equalised just three minutes into the second half. And the superb Peter Crouch headed the winner with fifteen minutes remaining.​

Two out and thats all!​

Tottenham have wrapped up all there transfer activity today as it was announced no one else would be joining or leaving the club. This comes after youth team goalkeeper Oscar Jansson was released by the club, Jansson had slipt further down the pecking order due to the arrival of Scott Loach and Alex Smithies. Also today new signing Miles Addison has been loaned out to championship side Queens Park Rangers, the deal will give Miles valuable first team experience.

Spurs took a giant step into the group stages of the champions league with a solid 3-1 victory over Anderlecht at the lane. Roman Pavlyuchenko opened the scoring in the 26th minute only for Spurs to conceed two minutes later, the goal coming from Tom De Sutter. Tom Huddlestone then regained the lead for spurs five minutes before half time. Tottenham where awarded a penalty with ten minutes remaining, however Van Der Vaart missed and Spurs has to hold on nervously until up popped Pavlyuchenko again four minutes into injury time to seal the victory.​

The lead was soon doubled five minutes later when Peter Crouch also grabbed his second goal of the campaign.​

Two awards head to the lane​

Tottenham striker Peter Crouch has landed the premiership player of the month award for august. Crouch has been in impressive form and bagged two goals in three games for high flying Tottenham. New Spurs manager George Ripton has also won the manager of the month award after an impressive start to the season winning all three of there opening games.​
