Breaking News: Dalglish's last match to be a Friendly?

Kenny-Dalglish-3.jpg

It looks like King Kenny's last match in charge will be a friendly at Inter Milan.

Liverpool owners NESV (New England Sports Ventures) have said that caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish will leave his post after the Inter friendly tomorrow.

Chairman Thomas Werner says that they will appoint a new permanent manager but with Dalglish stepping down, the fans may not be happy as they have long wished Kenny to get the permanent job.

"I feel it is time for us to appoint a permanent boss as we can't continue with a caretaker for the whole 2010/11 season," said the chairman. "We will unveil the new boss next week."

The media favourites to take the job are Zenit's Luciano Spalletti and Italian Claudio Ranieri. The journalists are eager to interview one of these men and the Liverpool supporters sure must hope that the board appoints a well-known manager.

However, one player that is not happy about this matter is Jamie Carragher. This is what he has to say in Twitter...

"I really wanted Kenny to take the role of permanent boss but the board wanted a new manager, which I think is f**king stupid when Kenny is a great manager."

Carragher has been given 1 week wage fine which he has accepted and apologised to the board. Kenny has also said that the players CANNOT use Twitter to say unescessary things.

Luciano Spalletti is new Liverpool boss

Whether Spalletti will be the new boss, it is still unknown at this stage

It is official - Italian Luciano Spalletti will take the role of permanent boss at Anfield.

Believe it or not, the unfamiliar 4-6-0 formation will be used by him here at Liverpool. The board have backed him and even gave him a huge war chest of £56M, and Spalletti pledged that he will revive the sinking giants and make them Champions League contenders.
Here is what he said, in his best English...
"This is a new er... challenge for me and I pledge to er... revive this er... sinking ship." he said to journalists from BBC.com, SkySports and ESPN.com.
Reports have already said that Fabio Aurelio will depart from the club and Bayern captain Philipp Lahm is already linked to the Reds. Meanwhile, some supporters are unhappy at the decision not to appoint King Kenny as their new boss and Spalletti will be under pressure to perform and pacify the supporters.

Several team players are already pleased with the appointment of Spalletti, including captain Steven Gerrard, strikers Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll and Raul Meireles.
"I think the board has made the right decision to appoint Luciano, he's a great manager in my opinion and I do hope he will bring us to glory in the future. Although he turned 51, I hope he can stay with us for the next 10-15 years." Carroll said.

I have no idea how Spaletti would ever play Carroll in a 4-6-0 but it'll be interesting (H)

Ian's press conference may not be interesting but I tried my best. XD

Liverpool vs Blackpool: Match Report

Andy-Carroll-Liverpool-4.jpg

Carroll will be used as an AM, an unfamiliar position

Liverpool today face newly-promoted Blackpool at Bloomfield Road today, where Spalletti faces his first test of the unfamiliar 4-6-0 formation and his managerial debut at the Reds.

Eleven days have past since his appointment and so far there is only one player who joined the Reds - Philipp Lahm on a £26M and will earn £185k per week, making him the highest earner at the club.

Left-back Fabio Aurelio has sorted out his future and has signed a new contract worth £56k per week. "I am delighted to stay here at Liverpool as I feel they have the best supporters in England. Everyday I feel confident when I hear the loud roars in every match we play and I hope to stay here until I hang up my boots." the Brazilian said.

Back to today's game, Liverpool will miss Lucas and Skrtel to injuries while Maxi Rodriguez is doubtful. However, Philipp Lahm has recovered from a dead leg suffered a few days ago and is ready to make his debut.

For Blackpool's side, Luke Varney is doubtful and other than that they have a fully-fit squad.

Blackpool might struggle against Spalletti's Liverpool side boasting new signings Suarez, Carroll and Lahm.

Holloway: We can get a point today

In his pre-match conference, Ian Holloway has stated that his Blackpool side is able to get a point against Liverpool, despite their opponents fielding a strong side.

"I believe my side can play out a draw against Liverpool today. With the confidence and determination, they can do anything to upset anybody even the big sides like Manchester United." the Blackpool boss said.

With Luke Varney the only doutbful player, Holloway will have plenty of players to choose from his side to face the Reds today.

Spalletti: We can beat Blackpool today
Speaking in his pre-match conference ahead of the Blackpool clash, Luciano Spalletti said that his team can beat Blackpool and says that the opponents will struggle to stay in the top flight this season.

"I think Blackpool will struggle to stay in the Premier League this season, considering the ability of the other teams. Their squad is only a Championship-ability squad and my side can beat them today, maybe by a huge margin and go provisional top."

"For my formation, I'm using the 4-6-0 formation I always use but I have a 4-2-3-1 formation in mind incase we aren't performing well in the first 45 minutes. Carroll might have to settle on the bench for today."
Liverpool formation:

Suarez and Carroll to play up-front, with Gerrard and Meireles behind them: Spalletti's 4-Attack force

It's a surprise that Luciano Spalletti will be using former boss Kenny Dalglish's idea of a attacking force which consists; Suarez partnering Carroll and Meireles partnering Gerrard.

"We've played awfully in the first-half, especially the defense. I've decided to go out an all-out attack on Blackpool, considering their poor defenders." the 4-6-0 specialist said.
