SEASON 13/14 REVIEW

I don't think I could be any happier with my first season in charge. Kept pace with Celtic & they ony won the League by 14 points. Won both the League Cup and finally brought the Scottish Cup home to Easter Road

Very pleased with the development of my young players. Handling, Harris, Stanton & Forster have shined in the first team, Handling & Harris are now worth over a million

Back in Europe next season, hopefully we can progress to the group stage and add a bit of extra cash to the club.

END OF SEASON LEAGUE TABLE

St Mirren end up being relegated. Raith Rovers take their spot after being crowned Championship winners. Hearts managed to defeat Cowdenbeath in the Play-offs so will stay in the Premiership.
No end of season Managerial changes in Scotland

PRE-SEASON/JULY

HibsTrainingCentreI.jpg

An average pre-season for us. We won games against smaller sides, lost against bigger sides (including a bad one against an Argentinian side). Had three Europa League fixtures as well

The World Cup has come and gone and the champions are..... Switzerland, weren't expecting that were you? Beat Germany on pens surprisingly (For any Swiss people reading this I'm not saying you're a bad side but would you expect to beat Germany? Especially since I've managed to get the real German players in the national side)

FIXTURES

Queen of the South 1 (McShane 60)
Hibernian 5 (Harris 11, Smith 18 & 33, Thomson 79, Mulhall 88)

A good showing from the youngsters, especially Smith

Forfar 2 (Cameron 6, McManus 77)
Hibernian 4 (Collins 28, Craig 44, Pyper 50, Forster 69)

Youngsters continuing to flourish, pleasing

Hibernian 2 (Collins 24 & 30)
Dinamo Zagreb 3 (Husejinovic 40, Brodic 61, Beciraj 90+2)

Disappointed to lose a two goal lead and lose the game in the final moments, thank god it was only pre-season

Hibernian 2 (Forster 8, Stanton 58)
Lokomotiv Moscow 3 (N'Doye 27, Corluka 42, Forster O.G. 56)

Good show against a strong Lokomotiv side, unlucky for Forster to concede an OG

Hibernian 0
Estudiantes de La Plata 5 (Fernandez 30 & 45, Desabato 56, Mendoza 73, Jara 76)

.....Let's just move on shall we?

Europa League 2nd Qualifying Round 1st Leg

RNK Split 0
Hibernian 1 Craig pen 51)

We have the all important away goal, not the strongest showing but we'll take it

Europa League 2nd Qualifying Round 2nd Leg

Hibernian 3 (Collins 26, Handling 53, Craig 71)
RNK Split 0

Hibs win 4-0 on AGG

A pleasing win, along with two clean sheets to boot

Pontevedra 0
Hibernian 3 (Thomson pen 29, Cummings 44, Elliot 79)

Another pleasing perfomance from the youngsters

Europa League 3rd Qualifying Round Leg 1

Hibernian 2 (Collins 7, Handing 88)
Sevilla 2 (Carmona 6, Gomez 86)

We can be very proud of this result, against a side of Sevilla's strength. Each time they scored we immediately responded. Will admit I jumped out my seat when Handling scored

Jamie Walker

Yes, I signed an ex-Jambo. Signed free after Inverness ditched him at the end of the season

Luke Giverin - Bury for ?7.5K
Alan Maybury - Released

Cairney, McPake & Nelson had all declined rapidly due to injury and lack of games (Nelson & McPake mainly due to Forster coming up in leaps & bounds)

Two more players join

FIXTURES

Celtic 1 (van Dijk 59)
Hibernian 1 (Harris 85)

A fantastic long range striker from Alex Harris rescues a point for us against a strong Celtic side

Europa League 3rd Qualifying Round 2nd Leg

Sevilla 1 (Reyes 52
Hibernian 2 (Handling 12, Craig 61)

Hibernian win 4-3 on AGG
Fantastic result against a much stronger opposition to get through to the play-offs

Hibernian 2 (Harris 67, McGivern 81)
Kilmarnock 2 (Dickson 65, 86)

Another game where both teams aren't happy at the other scoring

Dundee United 0
Hibernian 1 (Handling 63)

Handling looking to continue his fantastic form from last season. Hopefully I can hold onto him as lower Premier League sides are scouting him

Ross County 1 (Luckassen 74)
Hibernian 1 (Collins 86)

Another lucky draw, mainly youngsters playing in this match, debut of new keeper

Europa League Playoff 1st Leg

Hibernian 0
AZ Alkmaar 0

Denied an away goal for AZ, gives us better hope in the 2nd leg

Hibernian 1 (Handling 59)
Inverness CT 0

Should've won this game by more goals, especially since Caley were reduced to 9 men

Europa League Playoff 2nd Leg

AZ Alkmaar 2 (Elm pen 38, Muirhead OG 82)
Hibernian 3 (Forster 45+4, Craig 63, Diba OG 79)

Hibernian win 3-2 on AGG
Fantastic win to get through to the group stages

Hibernian 2 (Caldwell 2, Walker 90+1)
Hearts 1 (Ameobi 32)

What better way to convince the Hibs fans you aren't a Jambo than to score in the final minute in the Derby?

SUMMARY

Pleasing first month, didn't get as many points as we wanted but my main goal was to get to the group stages of Europa League, which we achieved

Benjamin Siegrist

Since I'm not entirely sure McDonald is ready first 1st team action yet, brought in former Aston Villa Swiss goalie Siegrist as backup for Williams

View attachment 415617

Gareth McAuley

The sales of McPake & Nelson left us pretty bare in central defence. Brought McAuley in as I feel he's just about to decline and Forster is ready to CB his own.
