Leicester City
My name is Chris Saunt. I am 19 years old and i support Tottenham Hotspur. However my local team is Leicester City and for this story i will be trying to get them as high as i can.
Leicester City FC is a one city one club which provides a fantastic fan-base but recent years has saw them move into the Walkers Stadium in 2002 and in that year went into Administration with debts of an estimated £30 million. At the end of the 2002-03 season Leicester were relegated from the Premier League just 1 year in to their new stadium. Everything was doom and gloom around the City as the football club is its heart. Along with Leicester Tigers across the road of course. In Febuary of 2007 came a new era at The Walkers as ex-Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric brought the club for a reported £6m. Stability has come to Leicester, the fans thought. They thought wrong with Kelly being sacked, Worthington was in charge. For abit then Martin Allen had his go. Followed by Gary 'Ginger Mourinho' Megson and then Holloway. Ian Holloway broke an age old curse which was over 50 years old which was the manager never wins his first game in charge. Holloway did winning 2-0 against Bristol City. Despite that highlight Leicester City were relegated to League 1 at the end of 2007-08. Their fall from grace meant Holloway left and Nigel Pearson was in charge. Pearson done a smashing job getin LCFC back to the Championship at the first time of asking, blooding the youngsters, keeping the same team more or less week in week out but now this ...

Transfer Budget - £0
Wage Budget - £105k p/w (Currently £100k p/w)
So with this generous budget, Costs will have to cut in certain areas and loans drafted in. Through-out Pre-Season i will look out for possible transfer targets and access the current playing squad. Staying up is a must but media predicts 16th.

July 2009
Chris Saunt has today announced that Jorrin John and Adam Vasey have been released from the club. Both players were viewed by the new boss as surplus to requirements and were not in his plans. He has also terminated the loan of Ryan McGivern who was on a loan at Leicester from Manchester City.

The Foxes have also confirmed the pre-season fixture list:
(Home) Leicester Res.
(Home) GH Academy
(Away) Hinckley
(Away) Rochdale
(Away) Bradford
(Away) Torquay
(Away) Weymouth

Leicester land 2 players on loan
Leicester City have announced on the club website that they have signed 2 players on loan. The first player to come in is Manchester City's Slovakian youngster Vladimir Wiess on a season long loan. Saunt said "I am delighted to have added to the squad. His pace on the wing is invaluable and will certainly benefit the current squad"
As well as Wiess, The Leicester boss has brought in John Fleck from Scottish side Rangers also on a season long loan. Along with the 2 loan transfers it has also seen Levi Porter leave for League 1 outfit Crewe Alexandre for a fee of £12,000. Chris Saunt has said that it will not be the end of the new signings as he still has his eye on a few more players.

Vladimir Wiess has joined City on loan for the season

BIG COUP FOR LEICESTER
After the double loans last week, The Foxes have made their first permanent signing. Former England international, Sol Campbell has joined the club after leaving Notts County after only a few weeks. Campbell rejected over 15 clubs to sign for the blues. Chris Saunt said that "this transfer is a massive boost to the team. He will bring vast experience to our defence".
More transfers news as 2 more players leave the club and 2 more sign on loan. The 2 coming in have been named as Reading's Gylfi Sigurdsson and Hull's Tom Cairney. Sigurdsson has joined Leicester until the end of the season and Cairney for just 3 months. ''Both loanee's will add some competition for places in the middle of the park now, We are very strong in that area now" - Saunt. The 2 players out are Max Gradel who has joined Southend on loan until January and Carl Pentney who has been sold to Crawley on a free transfer. Chris Saunt said "Max Gradel still has a future at the club otherwise he would have been sold, I watched him last season in League 1 and was blown away by the talent of the young lad"

Tottenham announce link with Leicester
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has today confirmed that a link between Tottenham and Leicester will benefit both sides. Spurs can now send players on loan to the Foxes should Saunt agree to the deals. An annual friendly can also become a regularity with all profits going to Leicester. The north london side also pay a fee of £51,000 per annum for the link which is good news for City finances.

Leicester 3 - 2 Leicester Res.
(Brown, Wellens, Waghorn)
A good start to life as manager for Chris Saunt. His side fought against the reserves coming from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

Leicester 2 - 0 GH Academy
(Howard, Gallagher)
Leicester notched up back-to-back wins with a win against Glenn Hoddle's Academy. The Foxes predictably dominated the game and probably should have scored more.

Hinckley 0 - 5 Leicester
(Fryatt 2, Howard, N'Guessan, Adams)
5-star Leicester smash Hinckley in a David v Galiath clash. The annual friendly between the linked clubs ends with City hitting 5 at Greene King Stadium.

Rochdale 1 - 2 Leicester
(Wiess (Pen), Wellens)
A narrow win but it doesnt tell the hole story. Loanee signing Vladimir Wiess gave Rochdale the run around and cooly dispatched a penalty kick.

Bradford 0 - 3 Leicester
(Wiess, Fryatt, Oakley (Pen))
Leicester make it 5 wins in 5 games with a comfortable win at League 2 side Bradford.

Torquay 1 - 3 Leicester
(Fleck, Berner, Sigurdsson)
A wonderful strike from Bruno Berner as well as strikes from Gylfi Sigurdsson and John Fleck give Leicester another happy away day in pre-season.

Weymouth 0 - 4 Leicester
(Fryatt, S.Campbell, Adams, Waghorn)
The final pre-season fixture insures a 100% record in the friendly warm up for the season which starts next week. On this evidence its going to be a successful campaign.

August 2009
After a perfect record in the pre-season friendlies, Leicester start their Championship campaign against south wales side Swansea before kicking off the League Cup when they play Burton Albion in the 1st round. Expectation and exciting building as the season of 2009-10 officially kicks off.

Leicester 1 - 1 Swansea
(Fryatt)
A perfect start looked on the cards for Leicester when substitute Dany N'Guessan crossed and Matty Fryatt finished to put them ahead on 87 minutes. Only for Van Der Gun to equalise deep in added time.

League Cup 1st Round: Burton 1 - 5 Leicester
(Kermorgant 3, Dyer 2)
A really dominant Leicester side ran rings around Burton Albion. Yann Kermorgant started the game and capped it with a hat-trick. Lloyd Dyer also played superbly scoring 2 goals. A sour moment has Sol Campbell limped off and is expected to be out for 4-5 weeks.

Ipswich 3 - 1 Leicester
(Fryatt)
A good performance against the Tractor Boys but clinical finishing from Tomas Priskin who scored all the home sides goals.

Sheff Utd 1 - 2 Leicester
(Gallagher, Fryatt (Pen))
Matty Fryatt cooly dispatched a penalty for Leicester's first league win of the season. Vladimir Wiess excited the away support with long mazy runs that eventually won them the penalty.

Leicester 2 - 1 Barnsley
(Tunchev, Fleck)
A superb team performance lands The Foxes back-to-back wins. John Fleck came on as a 2nd half sub to a powerful winner which rebounded in off the post

League Cup 2nd Round: Leicester 0 - 1 West Ham
An admirable defensive performance looked to have taken The Hammers into extra-time but on 85 minutes, Carlton Cole dispatched on of his few chances. John Fleck had a good game with 1 of his shots coming back off the cross-bar.

Newcastle 3 - 2 Leicester
(Wellens, Howard)
Leicester, 2-1 up at the break wasted a great chance to win in the league's biggest stadium. The toon army equalised with 20 minutes left and eventually won the match on 87 minutes. Also in the game, Bruno Berner had to be subbed for Chris Powell which will see him out for 2-3 weeks.

View attachment 45218
So 13th in the Championship for Leicester. 2 wins 1 draw and 2 losses in the league isnt a bad start by any means for a newly promoted side. But the concentration of the players is a problem area conceding late goals on 3 occasions which has cost the side dear in league and cup. Hopefully when Sol Campbell returns this will improve.

Player of the Month - Matty Fryatt

Fryatt scored 3 league goals in the opening 5 games

September 2009

Leicester 2 - 1 Blackpool
(Fryatt 2)
Following the managers choice of player of the month in August, Matty Fryatt has started September with 2 more goals. A goal in each other sealed a good home win for City. Sol Campbell made his return for the Foxes following injury but he had to leave the football field again and will be out again for 2-3 weeks.

Leicester 3 - 1 Peterborough
(Dyer 2, Howard)
2 goals in 3 first half minutes from Lloyd Dyer helped Leicester on their way to yet another home victory.

Watford 2 - 0 Leicester
A cagey encounter at Vicarage Road saw Watford go 1-0 up inside 20 mins. The win was confirmed when Leicester pushed for an equaliser and in doing so left themselves open at the back.

Leicester 2 - 0 Preston
(Howard, King)
The Walkers Stadium is becoming some what of a foughtress this season. The win was sealed when Andy King came on as substitute to make a big impact on the game and capped it with a goal.

Middlesbrough 0 - 2 Leicester
(Fryatt, Weiss)
Vladimir Weiss is showing real promise on the right wing for Leicester. A bagged a goal today and set up another for Top Scorer Matty Fryatt. A really strong defensive performance was key today. Despite the positives there was 2 casualties. Tunchev and Howard will both be out for the next 4 weeks.

4 wins out of 5 games this month. Leicester are riding high in 3rd place only Peterbrough and Newcastle have done better than The Foxes so far. A return from Sol Campbell will be key next month with Tunchev being out. Its a difficult task ahead.

Leicester boss scoops award

Player of the Month - Vladimir Weiss

Weiss has scored 1 and assisted 6 so far this season

October 2009

Coventry 1 - 3 Leicester
(Fryatt, Waghorn, Wellens)
A complete abolishing away day at the Ricoh Arena. Only a stoppage time giant throw from Aron Gunnarsson headed in by Leon Best ruins Chris Weale's cleansheet.

Leicester 1 - 1 Derby
(Fryatt)
''It was a great game and maybe we should have won'' Saunt said after the game after his side just come up short against Derby at the Walkers Stadium.

Leicester 1 - 0 Crystal Palace
(Weiss (Pen))
A cagey game got even cagier when Sol Campbell got himself sent off. A long run from Matty Fryatt ment Jose Fonte had to stop him and he did by conceding a penalty. Vladimir Weiss took the kick to keep the Foxes home unbeaten run alive.

Cairney Returns to Hull
After a quiet loan spell, Tom Cairney has returned to Hull after Chris Saunt decided not to keep him on at The Walkers Stadium. Cairney made 5 appearances during his 3 months at Leicester but all of them from the bench.

Reading 4 - 3 Leicester
(Gallagher, Fryatt 2)
0-0 at Half-time, No one could have predicted what happend next. Reading struck 2 goals within 5 minutes and The Foxes had alot of work to do. Gallagher did manage to get City back into it but where instantly caught at the back to put Leicester 3-1 down. Matty Fryatt then scored a timely double but Noel Hunt won the game deep into time added on.

QPR 2 - 0 Leicester
Two losses on the spin will not be good for morale as Leicester stumble to another defeat. City didnt really create any chances and therefore probably deserved to leave London with nothing.

View attachment 45267
Dissapointed not to keep the pressure on Peterbrough but all in all 6th at this stage is something to build on. Leicester could do with out losing back to back games.

Player of the Month - Chris Weale
picture.php

Chris has been making a series of crucial saves this month

November 2009

Leicester 0 - 0 West Brom
Performances in recent games have dropped and today was no different. Chris Weale saved a penalty that ultimately won his side a point.

Leicester 0 - 3 Plymouth
A disaster for Leicester. Poor away form and now their first loss at the Walkers this season. Performances definately need to improve to keep on track in the Championship.

Scunthorpe 1 - 1 Leicester
(Fryatt)
An improved performance from the Foxes. Matty Fryatt could have had 5 in the opening 30 minutes but was denied to just 1. Straight after City got the lead a ball back to Weale which he miscontroled and Hayes leveled for the home side.

View attachment 45277

Just 3 points off Bristol City in 4th place, Leicester City still remain in a good position. Should they get a good return on points in December that will surely put them in good contention for a play-off place in the new year. In such an unforgiving league though a continuation of bad results could leave them battling to stay up.

Player of the Month - Matty Fryatt

Leicester top goalscorer with 11 goals in 17 games

December 2009

Nottm Forest 3 - 1 Leicester
(Howard)
No win in 5 now for City and a loss against arch rivals Forest. Sol Campbell also picked up another injury and will be out for 3-4 weeks.

Leicester 0 - 1 Bristol City
Something needs to change. The players are not performing and the confidence is gone.

Leicester 1 - 2 Sheff Weds
(Hobbs)
A first goal for Jack Hobbs but no points again.

Cardiff 4 - 2 Leicester
(Fryatt, Howard)
After 15 minutes in this one, Cardiff jumped into a 2 goal lead and Weale was substituted for Conrad Logan. It seemed to stablise the team as Fryatt and Howard scored in the 2nd half to level the game. After that it seemed like the team had knocked off early as 2 late goals leave the Foxes 8 without a win.

Leicester 2 - 1 Sheff Utd
(Fryatt 2)
A first win since October when Leicester beat Crystal Palace 1-0. A formation change to 4-5-1 sparked some silky football going foward. Fryatt scored both City goals which won a vital 3 points.

Doncaster 1 - 1 Leicester
(Fryatt)
A continuation of the 4-5-1 last match, Leicester didnt perform as well as away from home but came away with a point.

''Vlads has been key to Fryatt success'' - Saunt

January 2010

Cisak Leaves City
Alex Cisak's contract came to end with Leicester. Saunt decided not to give Alex a renewal of his deal.

FA Cup 3rd Round Leicester 1 - 1 Reading
(Fryatt)
Yet again Fryatt scores for Leicester but it wasnt enough as this FA Cup tie will go back to Reading for a replay.

Transfer News
Martyn Waghorn has extended his loan at Leicester until the end of the season. The deal with Sunderland was due to come to an end until Chris Saunt renewed the deal.
James Wesolowski has been transferred to Bristol Rovers for £210k. The deal was accepted by Milan Mandaric which he said was too good to turn down. Chris Saunt said that he would have liked to be consulted but would have accepted the price anyway.
In other news John Fleck will be out for 4 weeks after suffering a back strain during a Weight Training session. This is a blow for the team after Flecks miracle sub appearances in the last few games.

Leicester 1 - 2 Ipswich
(Fryatt)
Wayne Brown was sent off for a professional foul in this one. Fryatt gave Leicester the lead but couldnt cope with Ipswich man advantage.

FA Cup 3rd Round Replay Reading 3 - 2 Leicester
(Kermorgant, Fryatt)
Yann and Matty put City in front within 25 minutes. But after the great start Kermorgant got himself sent off and Reading came back in the 2nd half. 2 injury time goals knock Leicester out of the FA Cup which has to be seen as a self-distruct mission from the players. "It gives us a chance to concentrate on league form now which is a slight positive for us" said Saunt after the game.

Craig Shakespeare contract terminated!
Assistant Manager Craig Shakespeare's contract has been cut short after he and Manager Chris Saunt decided to end his deal by Mutual Consent. Steffen Freund is rumoured the man to fill Craig Shakespeare position.

Swansea 4 - 3 Leicester
(Fryatt 2, Tunchev)
The scoreline suggest a tight encounter but it doesnt tell the hole story. A poor defensive performance has to be to blame but Matty Fryatt seems to be relishing the lone striker role with 2 more strikes with his 19th and 20th goals this season. Aleksander Tunchev also nodded in a late goal from a corner.

Freund signs as Assistant Manager
After Shakespeares departure German Steffen Freund has put pen to paper on a contract at Leicester for the Assistant Manager post. Freund had a brief stay at Leicester during his playing career.

Transfer News
With January in full swing Chris Saunt has added to his team but signing Jordan Hendeson on loan from Sunderland on a 3 month loan. Jordan was in need of 1st team football and Saunt is said to be an admirerer of his talent.
Max Gradel has also finished his loan at Southend. Chris Saunt said "Its great to have him back and i intend to pick him for some matches during the rest of the season. With now Weiss, Henderson and Gradel all being availible to play on the right i am going to move Vladimir into a more central role playing off Matty Fryatt."
In other news Robbie Neilson and Michael Morrison have picked up a virus and will miss the next 2 weeks. Saunt has responded by telling the media "I intend to play Harry Worley at right-back spot. He's just come back off loan and i havnt had much chance to see what he can do so it seems a sensible move"

Barnsley 0 - 2 Leicester
(Fryatt 2)
A goal in each half from Matty Fryatt ends the run of 5 without a win. Worley and Henderson started and performed well, Gradel also made an appearance off the bench and looked sharp.

Leicester 2 - 1 Newcastle
(Weiss, Wellens)
A superb turn around in fortunes. Kevin Nolan scored a free-kick to put the Toon Army infront at half-time. Chris Saunt didnt panic and sent out the same side for the 2nd half. Weiss and Wellens scored from rebounded shots from Fryatt on both occasions to give Leicester a well deserved 6 points in the last 2 fixtures for January.

View attachment 45477
Much needed back to back wins triggerd by Henderson, Worley and Gradel's impact on the side. Steffen Freund has been key too with his abilities as assistant boss. Hopefully the side can now get back on track and put a run together that could see them get back up the table to pursue there promotion hopes.

Febuary 2010
Promising star wins award
Promising Leicester loan midfielder Vladimir Weiss has been awarded with the Young Player of the Month award for January 2010. Its been a great month for the young Slovakian.
In other news John Fleck, Robbie Nielson and Michael Morrison have all returned to full training after being unavailible due to injury.

Blackpool 2 - 4 Leicester
(Fryatt, Tunchev, Henderson, Wiess)
An exciting trip to bottom place team Blackpool ended with a fantastic 4-2 win. However Leicester had to fight back twice after going 1-0 down, Fryatt got LCFC level and 2-1 down, Tunchev saved Leicester again. All this before half-time. But Leicester came out a new side in the 2nd half with Hernson scoring on 51 mins and Wiess slammed one in on 90 minutes.

Leicester 2 - 0 Doncaster
(Weiss, Fryatt)
Vladimir Weiss scored his 5th goal of the season in this dominant win at the Walkers Stadium. Fryatt made the win safe on 83 with a cool finish. Bruno Berner had to come off with an injury and that will see him out for 2-3 weeks.

Bristol City 0 - 1 Leicester
(Fryatt)
An away day to be proud of against 4th place Bristol City. Lloyd Dyer missed a spot kick for Leicester but yet again Fryatt won the points with a goal in the last 10 minutes.

Plymouth P-P Leicester
Today's match between Plymouth and Leicester has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The fixture has been re-arranged for Tuesday 2nd March. Chris Saunt was happy Plymouth couldnt get the game on by saying "Its not that disasterous that Plymouth couldnt get the game on because the side is on good form and will get a well deserved rest. I will be giving the the playing squad a couple of days off before our home match with Scunthorpe".

Leicester 1 - 1 Scunthorpe
(King)
Leicester should have put this game to bed but couldnt find the crucial 2nd goal and on the 89th minute Scunthorpe equalised and The Foxes were left stunned. Chris Saunt wasnt happy at dropping 2 more points at home "When will they learn? We have been conceding late goals all season, In games where we dont get that 2nd goal we have to hold on. The players just seem to get nervous as it happend so much this campaign".

Leicester 3 - 3 Nottm Forest
(Fryatt 2, Oakley (Pen))
An epic match at the Walkers Stadium ended with an incredible 3-3 draw. A brilliantly open match ment it was an end-to-end through out the 90 minutes.

View attachment 45523
A resurgant month for The Foxes. Only 6 points off the play-offs and a massive improvement in performances. The promotion chase is very much back on. Now is the time to strike form and Leicester seem to have done so in 13th but will that prove to be unlucky?

Player of the Month - Jordan Henderson

Foxes boss wants Henderson on a permanent deal

keep going ur make it to the premier league.

Thanks mate. I have faith in my ability to get Leicester into the Premier League maybe not this season but next season.

I reccommend anyone doing a Championship game to get Steffen Freund as Assistant Manager. Many of the Championship assistants have poor attributes and dont give you good opposition instructions. Specially with Craig Shakespeare who was rubbish lol.

Next update in few moments.

March 2010

Plymouth 2 - 0 Leicester
A poor performance from the boys in blue. They struggled to create any chances.

Sheff Weds 3 - 1 Leicester
(Weiss)
Matty Fryatt was rested for this game. Martyn Waghorn started and set up the goal for Vladimir Weiss. Steve Howard came on as sub but Leicester slump to a 2nd loss on the trot.

Leicester 2 - 0 Cardiff
(Fryatt, Weiss)
Quite simply a fantastic win. Weiss was pulling the strings with Henderson very dangerous on the right flank. Fryatt in the 1st half and Weiss in the 2nd secured a valuable win.

Crystal Palace 1 - 1 Leicester
(Fryatt)
Leicester earned a point in a very even game. Weiss is developing a fantastic bond with Henderson which creates a number of chances for Matty Fryatt who scored his 29th goal of the season.

Loanee in at City
Arsenal defensive midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has joined the team on a 3 month loan. The youngster is expected to get first team games as fatigue sets in during the business end of the Championship season.

Leicester 1 - 1 Coventry
(Fryatt)
Goal number 30 for Matty Fryatt but this match was very much 2 points dropped. Sol Campbell was sent off which will see him miss yet more games in Leicester's season. The defender has been struggling with injuries and disipline issues this season.

Derby 3 - 0 Leicester
A poor effort from the Foxes. This is a vital blow for the promotion push which will dissapoint boss Chris Saunt.

Leicester 0 - 1 Reading
A superb solo goal from Kebe wins the match for Reading. This was Leicester's 4th meeting with Reading this season and now they have failed to win on all 4 occasions. Chris Saunt saw the funny side "I am sick of the sight of Reading. I hope we can improve in this fixture next season unless of course Reading go up in which case i'll be delighted because i wont have to play them."

View attachment 45561
A dissapointing month at the Walkers Stadium. Leicester have now more or less ended theyre push for promotion as the gap grows larger. The last 6 games will now just be building for next season. The problem positions seem to be at right-back and in goal with Chris Weale being unpredictable. The pressure is now off though with a safe mid table just about secured. A top 10 finish would be a good end to Leicester's first season back in the Championship.
