April 2010

West Brom 6 - 1 Leicester
(Fryatt)
Leicester suffer there biggest loss of the season at the Hawthorns. The goals in the 1, 14, 21, 30, 50 and 63 minutes had Leicester 6-0 down. A change in formation to a 3-5-2 stablised City and even managed a goal from that man, Matty Fryatt.

Leicester 3 - 1 QPR
(King 2(+1 Pen))
An outstanding solo performance from Andy King wins Leicester 3 points. "It was truly a memorable performance from Andy" says Chris Saunt "He has always performed well and scored goals before but this was fantastic".

Peterbrough 2 - 0 Leicester
Leicester seem to be unpredictable at the moment. Another defeat away from home against play-off placed Peterbrough.

Leicester 1 - 0 Watford
(Oakley (Pen))
A narrow win for the Foxes came on the 74th minute when Leicester skipper Matt Oakley scored crucial penalty. This result was a real effort from the City players, Something that needs to be replicated when they travel away to Preston next game.

Henderson loan finishes
Jordan Henderson has returned to Sunderland today after his 3 month loan with Leicester expired. It has been a successful time at Leicester for Jordan with 17 starts and 1 goal. He also contributed 5 assists with an average rating of 6.84. Chris Saunt said in the past that he would like to make the move permanent so rumours will surely grow in the summer.

Preston 3 - 5 Leicester
(Henderson (OG), King, Fryatt 3)
Jordan Henderson may have left Leicester but today his name-sake Wayne Henderson scored an OG for Leicester after 52 seconds. Preston responded by going infront after goals on the 7th and 9th minutes. Andy King who has been enjoying a good run in the side scored on 36 minutes before top scorer Matty Fryatt grabbed a goal on 43 mins. Preston equalised a few minutes into the 2nd half but that didnt effect the Foxes as Fryatt scored 2 more to win the match ball and Leicester finally get some points away. This result was a new record with being the Highest League game for goals after the previous record was West Brom's 6-1 win against Leicester.

Player of the Month - Andy King

Andy has hit form this month scoring 4 goals

May Results

Leicester 3 - 2 Middlesbrough
(Gradel, King 2)
Another memorable win at the Walkers Stadium against another top side. Earlier in the season saw City beat Newcastle here and now Middlesbrough have fallen. Gradel performed well but Andy King steals the show with 2 great finishes for the Foxes. Leicester have now sealed a 10th placed finish in the Championship after winning League 1 last year. Definate progression for City fans who are unquestionably delighted.

So a good season for Leicester finishing in 10th spot. The slip up during November and December was at the end of the day the crucial blow in the promotion hopes.

Its been a successful time in the transfer market for boss Chris Saunt.
Vladimir Weiss was the 1st man brought in on a seasons loan. He has been oustanding with 7 goals and performing on a consistent basis. He will return so Man City now elated after his eye-catching displays.
John Fleck was brought in too challenge Lloyd Dyer's position on the left wing. John did that on a number of occasions which won him a run in the side. He will be happy with his time at the club when he returns to Rangers.
Sol Campbell has been the only permanent signing by boss Chris Saunt and hes enjoyed a starting role through-out the season. Despite injuries and suspension troubles he has performed well with an average rating of 7.
Glyfi Sigurdsson was brought to challenge for a first team place in midfield. He was mostly used as a sub to close out matches and did well but his starts didnt really shine
Tom Cairney had 3 months at the club making 5 sub appearances which will help him in his future as a footballer. He did play well but Saunt didnt decide to keep him any longer.
Jordan Henderson was a successful loanee making 17 subs scoring 1 goal and 5 assists. An average rating of 6.84 was respectable form. Chris Saunt is a fan of his talents.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas arrived late in the season from Arsenal but only made 5 starts. He promises a good future but didnt really gain anything from his move.

Player of the Season - Matty Fryatt

Transfer News
Exciting news for Foxes fans as they sign 2 new players on the opening day of the window. Both deals were completed in the summer but they have had to wait until July 1st for the Transfer Window to re-open. He will really had some solidity to the right back spot, I am very pleased" said his new manager Chris Saunt.

Pre-Season fixtures confirmed
(Away) Rotherham
(Away) Ebbsfleet Utd
(Away) Hinckley Utd

July 2009

Rotherham 2 - 2 Leicester
(Fryatt, Adams)
Leicester looked predictably rusty for this first pre-season fixture. An even first half ended with Leicester 1-0 up through Matty Fryatt. Rotherham reacted well getting themselves infront in the 2nd half. They were in the lead until the 92nd minute when Nicky Adams drew level for City.

Ebbsfleet Utd 0 - 3 Leicester
(King, Fryatt, Cherundolo (Pen))
A trip to .com club Ebbsfeet came Leicester's first win of the pre-season warm up. King, Fryatt and Cherundolo scored the goals but the Foxes could have scored bags more.

Rodney Sneijder joins on loan
An end of the season loan deal for Rodney Sneijder has today been completed. Sneijder joins from Sunderland where he hopes to gain first team experience to build on for the future. Rodney is the younger brother of Wesley Sneijder currently playing at Inter Milan.

Hinckley Utd 0 - 4 Leicester
(Fryatt 2, Gradel, Kermorgant)
The annual fixture with Hinckley went smoothly yet again for Leicester which is no suprise. Yann Kermorgant is showing real class playing as the Trequarista off Matty Fryatt which gives Saunt a positive problem on who to start with at the start of the season.

Leicester sign Majewski
Leicester have signed Radoslaw Majewski on a free transfer. The player signs from Polonia Warszawa after spending last season on loan at Foxes rivals Nottingham Forest.

picture.php

Will Radoslaw win over the City support?

Leicester 0 - 5 Tottenham
The manager Chris Saunt had mixed loyalties today as he faced the side hes supported since he was a boy. Tottenham battered Leicester but the Foxes were not expected to win this one. Saunt said "Glory, Glory, Tottenham Hott...Naa im only joking, It was dissapointing not to have scored but you know, Harry has done such a great job with them and winning the FA Cup last season against Aston Villa proved that English managers can do it at top top clubs"

Benjani rejects Foxes along with contract renewals
A rumoured £350,000 bid was accepted for Benjani by Manchester City but Benjani rejected the contract offerd by Leicester City and has gone to Ipswich Town instead. Chris Saunt was understandably upset the deal didnt go through "Its a great shame as he would have been ideal upfront with Matty. I am still in the market for a big man i'll just have to switch targets or maybe keep Fryatt as a lone man, Its unfortunate but these things happen in football".
In other news, Oakley and Berner have signed new deals that include sizable pay-cuts. King and Chambers got small rises which cements there futures for the next few years. ''More players may sign pay-cut deals as the club doesnt want such a big wage bill'' says Chris Saunt.

Leicester 3 - 0 Antwerp
(Fryatt, Majewski, Kermorgant)
A fantastic win against Belgian side Antwerp. Fryatt is proving not to have lost his for goal, scoring 5 in the 5 pre-season games. Majewski put in a good shift missing a few chances but did convert 1 of them. Yann did no harm in pursuing his charge for a first team place.

Clemence set for Leeds move
Stephen Clemence has completed a deal to take him to newly-promoted Leeds Utd for a fee of £50,000. Clemence had made only 1 appearance for the club last season and suffered largely with injuries.

A word with: Chris Saunt
FourFourTwo: Hi Chris, Are you ready for the new season?
SAUNT - Yeah, I would have liked to have signed a striker but the window isnt closed yet and Yann Kermorgant can always play up top so its not too bad.
FourFourTwo: Its been rumoured your trying to structure a deal to bring Amr Zaki to the Walkers Stadium. Is there any truth in that?
SAUNT - There was! We had an offer rejected from Rapid Wien {moved from Zamalek last season} and I dont think the club will pursue that.
FourFourTwo: You have made 4 new signings so far. Tell us abit more about the quartet?
SAUNT: Well Steve {Cherundolo} is an American right-back signed from Rostock, I think he is going to be first choice as this lad wouldnt look out of place at a Premier League side in my opinion. Then there is young Oscar {Jansson} He is a very good prospect from Tottenham, probably wont feature much this season as we are contemplating sending him on loan with several clubs wanting his services in the 2 lower leagues. We also have got Rodders {Sneijder} on a season loan, hopefully that will convince Wesley here when we get into the Premier League [*Saunt laughs*]. And last of all is Radoslaw Majewski, A former Forest lad but a great technical player, He packs a thunder bolt shot too which everyone knows.
FourFourTwo: You said a moment ago 'When we get to the Premier League' do you strongly believe you can achieve that this year?
SAUNT: Of course, why not? We have just as much talent as anyone else. Im really enjoying my time managing my home town club. The fans are behind us and so is the board, We have everything in place for a return, We just need to believe.
FourFourTwo: Ok, Well good luck for the new season Thank you for talking to us Chris.
SAUNT: Not at all its a pleasure!

August 2010
With pre-season going fairly well for Leicester, The hope of a good season ahead grows around the stadium as recently relegated Blackburn Rovers come to the Walkers Stadium.

Leicester 0 - 2 Blackburn
With Leicester being favourites with the bookies it didnt prove the case. Despite a good performance, Blackburn's clinical finishes means Leicester start the season with a loss to their name.

League Cup 1st Roud Leicester 3 - 1 Rotherham
(Fryatt 2, Majewski)
After the draw in pre-season against Rotherham this was a chance to set the record straight and Leicester duly deliverd. Despite Rotherham equalising to make it 1-1 they couldnt cope with Leiceser supreme attack. Fryatt got off the mark for the season with 2 goals and polish attacking midfielder opened his account for City too.

Crystal Palace 1 - 1 Leicester
(Majewski)
A dissapointing away draw at Palace. Leicester should have won the game with Fryatt missing a number of chances. Radoslaw Majewski scored to put Leicester infront but Palace leveled straight away.

Leicester 2 - 3 Sheff Weds
(King 2)
Leicester were never really in contention for any points today. 2-0 down and then 3-1 down proved to much but Andy King's performance off the bench impresed scoring both Leicester goals.

Preston 3 - 1 Leicester
(Fryatt)
Matty scores as Leicester slump to another defeat. ''No positives to take from the game what so ever, we never shown up'' said an angry Leicester gaffa Chris Saunt. Oscar Jansson also made his debut and impressed despite conceding 3 goals.

League Cup 2nd Round Norwich 2 - 1 Leicester
(Askou (OG))
Leicester are struggling to create clear chances at the moment. A Rodney Sneijder cross ment Askou converted the ball into his own net to put Leicester infront. 1-1 at the break and then Norwich shown their potential as the League 1 side came out fighting in the 2nd half and got through to the 3rd round.

Extra strike power brought in!
Leicester have signed Scott Sinclair on a season long loan. This is a positive move for Foxes fans as they are without a league win this season.

Leicester 0 - 1 Derby
A massive improvement defensively got Leicester in 0-0 at half time. Oscar Jansson is showing the promise Saunt saw in him with another good performance. A change to 4-4-2 seems to have galvonised the back line but 23rd in the league brings a poor month to a close.

Leicester sign Da Costa
Portuguese center half Manuel Da Costa has signed for Leicester for a fee of £150,000 from Premier League West Ham. Saunt says ''What a great bit of business. We had a deal agreed with West Ham in the summer but we withdrew our bid to try and negotiate the price down''. Its is rumoured that Leicester have saved £900k by re-negotiating the transfer.

23rd in the Championship is a poor start but it is early days. A definate improvement needed for September.

September 2010
Leicester need a change of fortune otherwise this season could turn into a relegation battle. Ipswich away is not a good start for September but with winnable games coming against QPR, Leeds and Leyton Orient surely Leicester will turn it round if they just 'Keep The Faith'

Ipswich 4 - 0 Leicester
Benjani rejected Leicester in the summer and after todays result you can see why. He scored 3 and Priskin added to the scoreline to send Leicester to the bottom of the Championship.

Leicester 1 - 0 QPR
(Fryatt)
Leicester have finally won their first match of the season. A return to the successful 4-5-1 of last season triggerd the improvement. Rodney Sneijder was sensational as well as Radoslaw Majewski and Matty Fryatt.

Leeds 2 - 1 Leicester
(Fryatt)
On paper this one looked pretty even. Leeds newly promoted were full of confidence and Leicester just didnt cope with them. Jordi Gomez and Giorgos Samras were integral for Leeds. Samaras got both goals. Steven Cherundolo had to go off with a twisted knee and will miss 2-3 weeks.

Leicester 2 - 0 Leyton Orient
(Neilson (Pen), Sneijder)
A second win in the Championship, Neilson scored a penalty and a Rodney Sneijder slammed in a wonderful shot from about 25 yards out. The home form seems to have taken a turn for the better which is good news but they need to address their away form to really climb the table.

Sheff Utd 3 - 1 Leicester
(Fryatt)
Another unhappy trip for Foxes fans. They had looked to have got themselves back in the game when Matty Fryatt scored but Sheff Utd killed off the game with a 3rd goal 20 minutes from time.

Message for followers: Thanks for following my story.
An unfortunate sacking just 2 months into the new campaign. 2nd season syndrome struck but i was just turning it round when Milan Mandaric gave me the boot.
Looking back i probably didnt build well enough in the first season bringing in so many players on loan. All them then left and i sold some players i thought were not good enough. That only left a small squad so bolstering the squad was needed. Manuel Da Costa and Rodney Sneijder were good buys and they would have been key in the turn around. I tried to bring in Vladimir Weiss as he got released from Man City but we couldnt agree terms which was unfortunate.
It is a difficult job at Leicester with the pressure of doing well for a one city club and i probably shouldnt have turned to 2 upfront for the start of the 2nd season. Once i moved Scott Sinclair to the left Matty Fryatt looked to be his usual goal scoring self again but my time had ran out.

Hope you enjoyed the story.
