So I've been thinking of signing Roberto Carlos and he wants a clause that says "One-Year Extension After League Games" after 20 games. I don't mind it being there, but does this mean that his contract is extended if BOTH parties like it or not? Or will I(the manager), have no choice but that the player can either accept or reject? I'm pretty sure that the manager/club has no choice but to offer the extension. What I want to know is whether the player has that choice... He's already 37 and wants a 2 year contract. Has anyone had the experience of playing someone with this clause for X number of league games and seeing what happens? Never signed anyone with a clause like this before, so that's why I'd like to know...
