Southampton FC are currently in the npower League 1 within the English leagues. Many fans are still agonising over the relegation from not only the Premierleague but the Championship aswell over recent years. It seems that the legacy Southampton was once firmly trying to build is now becoming nothing more but history as the clubs fortunes have diminished, there has certainly been more bad news than good news of late. Southampton have stayed strong however, they've battled to stay in exsistance avoiding liquidation and administration and prevailing that they also won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in the 2009/2010 campaign. These are only a few highlights though that have had Saint's fans jumping for joy.
Those days of old at Southamptons popular previous ground The Dell seem so far away. In those days the fans would happily skip on through the turnstyles to watch their favourites play, in particular the clubs most loved character Matthew Le Tisser. The club seemed to know where it needed to be and what it needed to do in those days. Nowadays fans seem to trudge and slowly drag themselves to Saint Mary's stadium, which is actually a beautiful stadium... but that is where the compliments end, as once fans have taken their seats they enter into a 90minute rollarcoaster ride which has more twists and turns than a midsummer murders episode. This leaves Southampton as one of the most inconsistant sides in recent times. They can sometimes win a match by four goals one week but then lose by four the next week. The fans want something to change, the chairman and manager bicker and can't get along and at this rate southampton will plummit further down the leagues. Surely only a Saint could save them?

Southampton have caused a stir in the papers this week as the South Coast club have once again decided to part company with another manager. Alan Pardew has muturally terminated his contract with the club as his relationship with the clubs board had dissolved. The clubs website explained that both Pardew and the chairman Nicola Cortese couldn't agree on which way the club should progress, the transfer budget and training routines for the squad. Pardew's only response was that himself and Cortese had "irreconcilable differences"

Southampton Chairman Nicola Cortese has today sounded out potential suitors for the vacant managerial position at Southampton. The fans have stated that whoever does take charge should get to rule the roost over key aspects of the club, issues such as transfers in and out, training and player development should not be compromised due to conflicting opinions and that the chairman should give the new manager breathing space and time to setup a system in which they work well within. They also want the new manager to have total control over all major footballing aspects. Will Cortese oblige or carry on with his ever so dominating approach.
