US media reports say Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden is dead.
Fox News said "multiple sources" had confirmed that the instigator of the September 11 attacks and other plots against the west had been killed.
He was killed a week ago by a US bomb, Fox said.
Sky's US correspondent Robert Nisbet said: "This is absolutely extraordinary news.
"We don't yet where he was killed, whether it was in Afghanistan or in Pakistan's tribal regions .. but the political ramifications for President Obama are massive."
The reports of Bin Laden'sdeath came after the White House announced an unscheduled news conference by President Obama.
