if their contract is expiring then sell them as it is better to get something and not lose them on a free transfer. otherwise, try offering at a later date and they might sign.

ah gutted, i just had the same with pepe reina at liverpool. Last year of his contract so i just offered him around for as much as i could as i didnt want him to go on a free. Managed to get 20mill for him but i tried to keep him because hes quality - offered him 150,000 a week but he wanted a new challenge.
