I usually have one of my touchline instructions in-match as 'Get Stuck In' and that way they don't back out of tackles. Try getting a good DM player with high tackling and passing as well as teamwork, and you'll start to do better.
Go to analysis tab to check before you make changes..remove hard tackling setting for players with low tackling attributes.And decrease the closing down setting for players who are not winning many tackles.Also be careful with the OI instructions.
