Out of Contract Players

Just wondering when trying to sign a player who is out of contract at the end of the season (where only a contract is to be agreed ) when is the first oppourtunity to 'approach to sign' them ?

Well if you are managing a Premier League club you can approach a player 6 months before the end of his contract, although this is only for players in foreign leagues. If you want to sign a player from an English club for free you have to wait until June 1st to offer them a contract.
