i must admit i laughed for a good while when i 1st heard this! Benzema... Ribery... Villa?? NO MICHAEL OWEN! lol

but then i thought logically- IF owen can stay reasonably fit then he would be an inspired signing by Taggart! the sheer amount of chances that United create would mean that owen could be just the player that United need to, yet again ( :( ), **** the league!
United have been crying out for an out-and-out finisher since RVN left, and with Ronaldo gone, owen could legitimately fill the goals lost in that transfer.
Although... with both Ronaldo and Tevez gone, the amount of chances could decrease somewhat... as, personally, i dont really think that Valencia is gonna be the world-beater all the fans are hoping- he's looks like Nani... plays a bit like him too if u get me...!

agreed on the owen part even tho i wouldn't like him to come but disagree on the valencia part

i dont think he is the best signing united have made but i admit he is better than nani by a long shot and i have to say he made a **** of a lot of chances at wigan than ronaldo did at man u ( sky sports news did a comparison ) as well as that he made more tackles so now the whole team will give 100% unless berba plays haha

he's free but yeh, he'll still get wages, man utds wages, thats not worth a free lol

well news this morning when you log on is that michael is having a medical at man utd ahead of his free transfer move

as for valencia i reckon he will be a real good signing for untied as he is and out and out winger rather than ronaldo, and will provided the crosses on the right wing. as for the left we either need to get a left winger in or what we should be is have giggs tutor tosic for the left wing as i thing he will be amazing within the next season or 2, but if u get giggs to tutor him and teach him what he know then i reckon he will be even better.

excatly, thats what i think as well, if he stays fit he will get the goals we would of missed with ronaldo gone.

The problem with owen last season putting injuries aside, is the fact that he had absolutely no support. Owen is a poacher so he will need others to get the ball to him in dangerous areas for him to work his magic. Newcastle were rubbish at this but I reckon that he will have a hapier time at Man Utd.

I think it'll be a good signing, if he stays fit and gets a couple of goals early doors he'll be good. Best of all Owen will know his place in the United team and will be happy to sit on the bench, unlike Tevez. This is also the reason i wasn't bothered when Real got Benzema cause he would be benchwarming for a lot of the time and i think he might've gone the same way a Tevez

i reckon now with united getting owen on a free then it will leave us money now to improve the midfield and get some good quality back ups for different posistion.

owen should score quite a few goals nd if he stays fit he is what man utd have been searching for since RVN left we needed a goal poacher nd we got one for free i reckon its a good deal

Sadly there isn't a smiley to express my feelings fully. That one of the yellow face rolling around the floor laughing himself to tears would do nicely just now.

My view is the same of a blog on the Official Man Utd Website:

"the first-choice strikers for next season will be Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov, so any new signing would either have to be better than them both – names, please – or that rare breed of footballer who will not kick up a stink if he’s used primarily as an impact substitute."

i think he will be a good signing we havent had a goal scorer like him since RVN left all out strikers have been happy to just play off 1 an other and pass blame for lack of goals he will be the fox in the box and get easy 20 goals a season

thinking about it now i reckon getting owen in on a free would be like when we got larson in on loan a few years ago,

Exactly what i was going to say. Larsson came on loan from Helsinborg, hadnt played first-class football in 2 seasons and managed to find quite a few goals for united. I also think that Owen would be like Solskjear was, an experience poacher to bring on from the bench, and for a free transfer.. its kind of worth the risk.

its not a gamble look at his experiance he can do the job fergie knoiws what he is doing there is more to it than just playing him from the bench he will be a perfect role model to the likes of wellbeck and macheda

excatly thats wot i said, he will tutor the young guns on how to adapt to prem life at the top level and teach them confindance in the game

Well as a Newcastle fan i will say this: I'll ******* drive him there myself!
