Anyone else planning on watching the Paulistao semifinals this weekend? I'm really looking forward to the semifinal between Santos and Sao Paulo later today. Some of the best prospects in Brazilian, and therefore world, football will be on display in this game. The likes of Neymar, Ganso, Lucas Moura and Casemiro. I hope Santos win this one, Corinthians win the other semifinal, and then we will be all set up for a classic final match. I believe the kick off of the Santos Sao Paulo game is at 19:00 GMT today and Palmeiras and Corinthians kick off at the same time on sunday. If there is any interest in these games, then I will create a proper match thread for them.

Haha, never imagined I would see a Paulistão thread here. Are you Brazilian too?

Anyway, it's going to be a great game between São Paulo and Santos, and Palmeiras WILL beat Corinthians.
I'll watch the match today, Muricy has fixed Santos' defensive problems, but São Paulo team seems better.

I'm not sure, is there any problem if I post a link for the match?

No I'm not Brazilian but I'm American and Brazilian football is the best football available in the western hemisphere so I watch quite a bit of it. I'd have to say your predictions are probably spot on, but I would still rather see Santos and Corinthians in the final just because I prefer those teams over the other two. And yeah, I was going to post a link to the match but I'm not sure if it is allowed. I don't want to get banned/infracted. I do wish there were more people on here that followed brazilian football thought. It's great to watch and you get to see the world's greatest talents before they become big name superstars.

It's always good to hear people that follow our futebol, unfortunately, there's nothing about the MLS here(the only other national American league we have here is the Argentinian League).
About the Paulistão, it going to be a great final, no matter who wins the semifinals. All the big teams(but Portuguesa, a former big teamXD) reached the semifinals. So bad the Paulistão format is one of the worst, as it should take no longer than 1 month.
About Corinthians, it's pretty funny that somebody from the American continent knows about them, as they never conquered AmericaXD<)XD

I hate you, jmoser.

Yes, thanks to the ref and Danilo's lack of brain, it is.

Err which one of the semi finals are you referring to as bad referee and this Danilo guy making mistakes? (Don't watch the brazilian league so much)

I'm sorry, when I posted, I somewhat imagined a confusion(as there is a player called Danilo who plays for Santos and one that plays for Palmeiras). I'm talking about Palmeiras' Danilo, who did this:

I actually think that he didn't even deserved the red card for this tackle, but there's no reason to do that in our atacking field. Also notice that Palmeiras' Kléber(30) was punched twice, and the ref didn't do anything. Is also good to point that Kléber is hated by most referees. He is hit EVERY SINGLE MATCH like that(most of the time, worst), but he simply the strogest player in Brazil, and he also loses his head sometimes, using elbows instead... But that because he is targeted every moment. Scolari was sent off to, as he was discussing with Tite(Corinthians coach) and PC Oliveira thought he was saying that the match was fixed. Something interesting is that, even before PC Oliveira was picked randomly, a Brazilian newspaper reported that he would be there, indicated by Corinthians...

Again, if you can understand portuguese, in the video, Arnaldo César Coelho, who was the referee in the '82 WC final, said that both Danilo and Liédson deserved a yellow card. Danilo got a red card, and Liédson got away.

I hate you, jmoser.

hehe it doesn't matter to me, because I got my dream matchup for the final. Can't wait for tomorrow. Santos to win it 2-1 on aggregate, and this result will give them the confidence to push on in the Libertadores and the Brasilerao. Just have to pray we don't lose Neymar and/or Ganso in the summer, because losing Ze Eduardo will be difficult enough to deal with already. Although knowing Santos, I'm sure we have another 16 year old wonderkid lurking in the shadows, just waiting for his chance to break through into the first team, and become the next great Brazilian footballer.
