This question may have been answered.

I have about 40 players in my team.

X3 keepers (GK)
X5 fullbacks/wingbacks (D L/R)
x6 defence central (DC)
x3 defence midfield (DMC)
X6 central midfield (MC)
X5 left/right midfielders (M L/R)
x5 attacking wingers (AM L/R)
X3 attacking midfielders (AMC)
X5 Strikers

But how do you choose the correct players to play.
Do you choose :

1- By their attributes for their position eg striker.
2- Assistant managers recommendation.
3- By their ability, I am referring to their ability. (this show as golden/silver stars)
4- By their match fitness/condition/morale.

I usually go for their attributes, regardless what the assistant manager recommendation are.
Even though my player stats are a lot better, than the team I am playing, but I could loose 4-0.

I would just like to know how the player engine chooses a winner.

The only reason I am asking, I play well against some teams, but poorly against others.

I would like to know other people opinions and how they choose their players for each game.

Lots of different things.

For example for my CBs I look at tackles/90, tackle completion, pass completion, headers/90, key tackles, key headers, etc. Basically what you want your CBs to be doing.

E.g. my 2 first choice CBs are rated at only 3 stars, when I have a 3.5 star CB in my squad, but he doesn't have as good stats.

But on the other hand if a player's morale plummets, I'll try to avoid playing him if there's another decent option.

And if they're exhausted I won't play them either.

Firstly I'd choose their stats, but anyone with low fitness/condition would be replaced.
