does anyone else think that the new player rating system is rubbish? The old one, i.e 6,7,8,9, whatever, is much better than the decimal version, is there anyway to change back to the old one?

TBH I thought this is one of SI's better 'improvements'. Tis more accurate.

idk,
im probably a bit obsessive compulsive
but i like nice, round numbers
it just makes more sense to me

Yeah I'd prefer it to be rounded. Doesn't bother me thought to be honest.

I think I prefer the old system as there was more room for argument. If two players get an 8 you have to make up your own mind who was better, whereas now one guy gets 8.1, the other getting 8.4, so you know who did better.

I'm not outraged or anything about it though.

Well...Just think of the new format as a percentage, just like the fitness rating
..And I agree its one of the better changes in '09

i think it's one of the improvements in the game.. at least now you don't get a match with all the players having 7.. now minimum differences do count

maybe you like it, i dont particularly
but is there a way to revert to the original ratings system?

anyway ratings are a bit flawed, for example (I play with specialists), my destroyer who is lass diarra on my madrid game destroyes, intercepts, tackles frustrates countless counters and he'll get his little seven despite being a terminator on midfield, then another guy does nothing on the whole game gives an assist and he's got an 8. Think there is room for improvement, but make sit more precise I think.

fair enough
but do you know if i can change back to the original ratings system?
which is what i kinda wanted to know.

okay sorry lol no, no way that I know about, at least nowhere in the preferences screen so maybe playing with a file but not in the game itself.

The game always calculated the ratings down to decimal points (I think it does it to two or three actually so the ratings should be 8.12 or 8.123 etc). We just get to see them now.

Ratings only tell part of the story anyways - you can have a winger who does 10 successful dribbles in a match but contributes absolutely nothing to the team performance in the game and he'll get a 7.4 rating. Then you have the bugs in the ratings which crop up far too frequently (it was midfielders' turn up to 9.3, not noticed any odd ratings in 9.3 but who knows).
