Does a player's actual role affect his play, or is it the instructions that have the most effect?
For example, if I had a DLF and changed his role to Poacher, yet with all instructions boxes ticked to give the exact same instructions, would the player tactically play exactly the same, or does the role given actually have an effect?

The role is just a labell, its the instuctions that counts. The only time when the role comes into play is when using the role of any playmaker or target man as these will be the focal pont of the play, regardless of their settings. The game or the players does not know they are playing as Poachers, advanced forwards etc, they just play to their settings.
