Player wants to stay but won't sign a contract?

I'm managing Arbroath, and one of my players Lee Sibanda isn't interested in signing a contract with only 6 months left on his current one. When I get the reminder telling me his contract is running out, it says he has expressed his interest in staying at Arbroath. I click Offer Contract and he tells me he's not currently interested in entering negotiations.

What am I supposed to do? I don't want to lose him at the end of the season as he's one of my better players. If I wait until closer to his contract expiring will he be more interested in talking to me about renewing?
 
Wouldn't it be his agent?. If so, you can ask him to sack his agent.
 
Oh well, then I have no other ideas than try praising him once a month or so. And that it maybe should be reported as a bug.
 
I'll try praising him and see what happens towards the end of the season. Thanks Death Ball :)
 
The reminder popped up again before I had a chance to praise him so I clicked on his Offer Contract and it worked so I've managed to get him to stay :)
