Players for lower leagues beyond conference

Hey guys I have searched the forum but cannot find anything regarding players for lower league teams. Im managing romsey town and only start off with two players the rest are greyed out in my reserves. Has anyone else started this low or does anyone know which players to sign. Thanks in advance.

When you create a new game, at the screen where you select what league's to load, tick the 'add players to playable teams' box
