Players suited to different formations?

I have Sanogo, and he scored 2 in 10 playing in a duo, as ADV FWD, on attack, but then I changed formation to a 4-1-2-2-1, and he is alone, as an advanced forward, and has scored 10 in his last 5 games!!!

So, Are certain players suited to different formations?

yes they are just like in real life, Dzeko looked a different player when Aguero came on the other night as he did when he played next to Grafite at Wolfsburg...

True, it just annoys me as I can only play with one striker now, meaning I'll have to leave two potentially world class strikers on the bench I'll survive though, as because of Sanogo's recent form, I'm 6th in PL with Middlesborough in my 2nd season
