Players taking a coaching role

So I'm playing as Roma and at the beginning of the 2nd season I offered Cassetti a coaching role which he accepted, he said he would start right away. When I go to the training screen and try to assign him something to coach his name doesn't appear. Is there something I need to do to have him coach??

When they say that it just means they will gain their staff attributes but they wont actually become a coach until you give them a non playing staff contract
