I'm currently managing Liverpool in the 2014/15 season, and I tend to have problems playing against teams (marginally) bigger than me (Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Chelsea). I play a 4-5-1 that is accurately described as 4-1-2-2-1. What tends to happen is that my central midfield is so solid that the opposition go wide in order to attack - this is where they find space and get most of their assists from because the full backs get isolated.
In order to stop this happening, I want to try a 4-4-1-1 using 2 banks of 4 to make a solid defensive unit. I'm not certain how to do this, go 'Rigid' and not have any pressing I guess? Any guidance would be much appreciated!
Alternatively, I struggle to dominate the above mentioned teams and am on the back foot all the time. Is there much of a solution to this?
Thank you in advance!
