Still not quite sure how tactics work in FM09. I was kind of used to plug&play tactics but this doesn’t seem to work well. Strange thing is that I can win from bigger teams but I struggle against the lower level teams.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

My team has a couple of limitations. First of all, I’m playing with a back four. Second I have great DM’s and great AMC’s. Lastly I don’t like playing 4-4-2. Don’t know why, I guess it is a neurotic thing and it seems the less creative option. Don’t mind 4-4-2 diamond though.

What I’m looking for I a standard tactic from with to deviate. Right now I’m using 4-1-2-1-2 as my standard home tactic sometimes switching to 4-1-3-2 attacking for the weaker teams. Away I tend to use 4-1-3-2 standard or defensive or with much weaker teams 4-1-2-1-2. However this can fail miserably. Against Arsenal I lost 7-0 after beating Man U 0-2. At first I thought it was because of an attacking 4-4-2 tactic but I have won and lost against teams with that setup leading me to think there must be more reasons.
Can anyone give me some insight as to which tactics or pitch sizes these tactics (4-1-2-1-2/4-1-3-2) seem vulnerable? Also is there some tactic very similar to these two to which I can switch to counter the weaknesses? Or could all problems be solved by using the PI or team instructions? Lastly how many formations do you use in any given season?

My team is very strong in midfield ,got some great strikers, decent backs, poor central defenders and poor wingers.

There are some good plug in and play tactics and they do still work well i assure you.Im playing with a great 4-3-3 one i designed recently, suprising because i usually go 4-4-2 but fancied a change.

Hi JP, is that 4-3-3 you have mentioned your back to basic? I have tested nearly all of your tactics and was very succesfull with them. Thanks

No mate this is a new one,ive not uploaded any 4-3-3 tactics on here before, ill upload it here if you want to try it?

That would be great from you legend. Greetings from Czech Republic.

Here you go mate. This tactic is all about attacking fullbacks and wingers, make sure they have good dribbling and crossing.

NO!!!! this is a wide tactic so a nice big pitch is preferred but not totally essential.
