100th Game In Charge Of Plymouth

View attachment 396606

Well Rotherham obviously didnt read the script as they beat us 2-1, Shame my 99th game in charge was the Trophy Final.

April/May Fixtures

View attachment 396605

So we start the month with a dominant win over Rochdale before the Paint Trophy Final and then my 100th game. Despite Andy Johnson being in amazing form we manage to draw our next 3 games in a row with the Blackpool result decent the other two we really should have won.
We end the season on a slightly better note with young striker Harvey and on loan centre back Corey getting the goals against Crewe to win us the match.

We manage to scrape into 5th place thanks to the last day win which means we wont have to face 3rd placed Peterborough in the play off semi finals. They were 8 points clear of Millwall in second not that long ago but they nose dived and ended up missing out on automatic promotion.

Right up next Play Offs

Skybet League 1 Play Off Semi Finals

1st Leg V Preston - Home

View attachment 396601

Bolton Legend Kevin Davies got a very early goal for them but our own old man Jon Parkin scored a late equalizer but the away goal surely gives Preston the advantage.

2nd Leg V Preston - Away

What a game! An 8 goal thriller sees us go through to the League 1 Playoff Final against Peterborough with Andy Johnson on fire again as hes really been the difference since the turn of the year,

It was a close game but it was too stop and start for my liking as the referee gave them every decision under the sun and i guess Peterborough did deserve the win in the end.

Oh well thats this season over and the morale of the story for next season is to get one of those automatic promotion places!

Unlucky that you didn't get promoted but that still is a good finish.

Thanks guys, I think we would have got destroyed a lot in the Championship if we went up this season, This way i get another season working on the tactic and the squad, hopefully no one wants to leave as the likes of Harvey and Santangelo i promised promotion to try and get them to stay here. Hopefully with just a few quality signings we can get an automatic promotion place

End Of Season Stats - May 2015

Top Goalscorer - Jon Parkin - 16 Goals

View attachment 396546

He was our key striker in the first half of the season but got slightly overshadowed by Andy Johnson towards the end as he rapidly declined in form and fitness and wont be with us next season.

Player of the Year - Andy Johnson

View attachment 396545

He was only here for the second half of the season but he was the difference between us being in mid table to making the Play Off Finals. Despite being 34 he scored a goal every other game with 13 goals in 26 games and should be key to our success next season.

Young Player of the Year - Dean Santangelo

View attachment 396544

Hes an awesome goalkeeper at this level and i dont think we will be able to keep hold of him much longer as he talks about moving to a bigger club. Hes already won caps for the Iran National side and is their Vice Captain all at 21. I wont miss the fact hes missed around 10 games because of Internationals at various age groups this season

Season Review

Right so that was one **** of a season despite it ending in Heartache. We were gutted to lose the Play off Final but seeing as we were suppose to be finishing mid table we have to be happy we did so much better than expected. Also to pick up another piece of silverware was the main highlight especially with the ground out peformance in the Final to beat a much better team in Middlesbrough.
Next season will be all about automatic promotion and strengthening the side in just a few key areas, I think if we had had some of our Winter transfer signings all season we would have got promoted for certain this season. Anyway onwards and upwards

Summer Transfer Window - July/August 2015

Season Expectations

View attachment 396539

I chose mid table because i didnt get anything extra for raising expectations so there was no point in heaping pressure on myself. What is doing my head in though is the board wont raise the wage budget over 60k despite having well over ?1million in the transfer budget and there being numerous decent free players out there.

Right well you might be wondering how we have so much of a transfer budget and its because Tyler Harvey and Dean Santangelo were both sold from underneath my feet! I will sorely miss Santangelo but Harey was not much of a goalscorer and go injured a lot.

View attachment 396538View attachment 396537

So we got well over ?2 Million for these two transfers but i wont be allowed to pump much of the money back into the first team.

Players Out

Apart from the two already mentioned Bellamy left along with Parkin and Trotman whilst SWP left but only for a few weeks as he soon lowered his wage demands and we could re sign him.

Players In

So we had 6 players come in, 5 on free transfers and centre back Dion Conroy spending another season on loan with us from parent club Chelsea.

Craig Eastmond - DMC

View attachment 396536

Eastmond will play alongside Hourihane in the heart of the midfield with Norris and Morris getting a bit too old now to be playing a lot of games.

Jon Stead - ST

View attachment 396535

Stead has come in to replace top goalscorer from last season Jon Parkin so he has a lot to live up to but i think in this league him and Andy Johnson should bag a few goals.

Karl Henry - DMC

View attachment 396534

A brought him in for rotation as a 3rd choice DMC but by the end of the season i wouldnt be surprised if he has pushed out our other midfield bruiser Hourihane.

Tom Naylor - DRC

View attachment 396533

Will be used as a backup in a couple of defensive positions but does have the potential to break into the first team especially considering my luck with injuries.

Dion Conroy - DC

View attachment 396532

The on loan defender impressed at the end of last season for us after his 5 month loan spell we got offered the same deal again for the rest of this season.

David Mooney - ST

View attachment 396531

As you can see this transfer was done right near the end of the window as i felt i didnt have enough cover in the striker department after Harvey left.

Summer Transfer History

View attachment 396530

I feel as if we have a much stronger squad overall this season and can really dream of a Promotion challenge as long as my key players stay fit and healthy.

nice one i as a silent follower..keep up the gd work here...also nice work with the transfers getting in 2m and spending nowt

can you post a screenshot of curtis nelson?

Nice transfers, but I'm surprise you didn't buy players as the amount of money you had was a lot for a League 1 team. You have a much stronger squad though

I wanted to but the wage budget restriction meant any player who would have cost any serious money wanted the big wages to go with it and i cant offer anymore than around ?1200 a week at the moment. thanks for reading

Always tough to lose a playoff-final, but promotion should be alot easier to achieve this season. Eastmond for free is a great capture, he is class at this level.

Yea agree with above, Eastmond is a beast at this level and should be ok 1 division up also. Prem probs a bit of a step too far for him.

Hes been pretty awesome so far but is on a bit of a crazy contract as i couldnt quite afford his basic wage so he has practically every bonus i could give him. thanks for reading

Skybet League 1 Promotion Odds

View attachment 396280

The league is very much up for grabs now the big teams like Millwall, Middlesbrough and Peterborough have got promoted and the recently relegated clubs are nowhere near as good as them in Brentford, Birmingham and Barnsley. 6th Favourites is pretty good but i would like to think a title challenge and an automatic promotion place is the aim for this season.

August Fixtures

View attachment 396279

We start the season well beating Promotion rivals Birmingham 3-2 with Curtis Nelson scoring a late winner, We then thump Forest Green 4-0 with quite a few reserves before going on to beat another Promotion rival in Preston. Crawley brought us back down to earth with a bump though as we lose 2-0 to them but only a few days later Andy Johnson is on fire as we beat Carlisle 3-0.
We then lost to Crystal Palace in the League Cup but that was to be expected and then we end the month with a bore draw with Rotherham.

League Table

View attachment 396278

Currently in 4th place whilst recently relegated Birmingham have struggled to cope with life in League 1 currently bottom of the league.

September 2015

Double whammy of bad injuries as Andy Johnson will be out for 4 months and poor Hitchcock will miss another 6 months this time with a broken foot only 8 months after coming back from a broken leg.

September Fixtures

View attachment 396273

An unbeaten month despite the bad injuries with Luke Young stepping up to the plate and scoring winning goals in the opening 3 games of the month with Jon Stead then going to secure 3 more important goals in a row. A decent month in the league picking up 11 points from a possible 15 with left back come winger Ben Purrington putting on a masterclass to secure a draw against Leyton Orient.

Its going well as were currently second only thanks to goals difference with Rotherham currently top of the pile.

October 2015

I think this injury crisis sums up my luck with injuries at the moment as my first, second and makeshift 3rd choice left backs all get injured around the same time!

October Fixtures

View attachment 396266

Oxford were dominating us in the opening game of the month but we managed a flurry of goals late on but it wasnt enough to steal any points.
Our youngsters thumped Forest Green in another cup competition as we look to defend our Paint Trophy. We also thrashed Coventry 4-0 before a bore draw with Fleetwood, it was then 3 impressive league wins on the trot as we grounded out the results with hard man DMC Hourihane getting a couple of important goals along with Mooney finally getting his first goal for the club.

Mooney Finally Scores!

League Table

View attachment 396264

Top of the table by 2 points and 4 points clear of 3rd places Hartlepool who are going great at the moment, I dont think the Bookies expected this top 3 with Birmingham still languishing near the bottom of the table.

Player Stats

View attachment 396263

Yay! I finally have a player to talk about on the players charts with Stead now on 9 league goals for the season and topping the most man of the matches chart.
