April - Mid April 2017

Plymouth 2 - 1 Rotherham

View attachment 394458

A brilliant win for us against the thorn in my side Rotherham as Mooney scores that vital second goal with Rotherham getting a goal back in injury time but it wasnt enough and we gain 3 all important points.

Plymouth 3 - 1 Wolves

View attachment 394457

Goals from Nimely, Purrington and Hall confirm 3 more points in an impressive victory as i revert back to the Shots Galore tactic after the dip of form again in March, I think thats what i have to do now try and combat any drops in form before they go too far.

Cardiff 2 - 2 Plymouth

View attachment 394456

Cardiff manage to grab an equalizer through super sub Troy Deeney to thwart our plans of an impressive 3 wins in a row but 7 points in 9 wont be sniffed out.

Bolton 0 - 2 Plymouth

View attachment 394455

An own goal and a late Grainger penalty as we seal 3 more points in a game we dominated. It shows how misleading the fixture list can be as we start to beat a lot of the teams around us after spending March getting beaten by the bigger teams.

Birmingham 1 - 0 Plymouth

View attachment 394454

Well all good things come to an end as Hourihane gets sent off and we lose to Birmingham after 4 games unbeaten.

League Table With 3 Games To Go

View attachment 394453

Well im getting a bit light headed all the way up here in 13th place! As Mourinho would say when we ended last month in the relegation dogfight it was a false position. Were now 9 points clear of the relegation places with only 3 games go and can surely now start planning for another season in the Championship.

Congrats on near enough staying up mate. Hopefully you can get some funds in the summer and push on further.

Well done mate, hopefully build on this next season. Good luck. :D

Congrats on near enough staying up mate. Hopefully you can get some funds in the summer and push on further.
Thanks guys a lot of the media comments are about my young squad so hopefully another season under their belts and we should be raring to go and a bit more familiarity with the tactic, I dont want too much of an upheavel but really need a goalscoring striker, Rodriguez and Nimely loans will end and Mooney wont sign a new deal

April - End Of Season 2017

Plymouth 3 - 3 Crystal Palace

View attachment 394277

We started so well with 3 early goals but Palace managed to come back with two goals in 3 minutes but we managed to hold on to the draw.

Plymouth 2 - 1 Charlton

View attachment 394266

Mooney scores a late late goal to seal the 3 points with us and confirm our second season in the Championship which will hopefully be a little more impressive.

Bristol City 1 - 1 Plymouth

View attachment 394264

So we end the season on a low note with a poor draw against Bristol City one of our local rivals.

Championship League Table End

View attachment 394263

Well after good few weeks we end the season in 13th place, 10 points clear of the relegation places and i feel hopeful we will be able to push on next season and at least reach the top half of the table.

May 2017 - End Of Season Stats

Plymouth Argyle Squad In Order Of Apps

View attachment 394171

Top Goalscorer - Ryan Hall - 13 goals

View attachment 394170

I think it shows how we have struggled to have a consistent striker this season with one of our wingers being top goalscorer with a mere 13 goals but as the highest paid player im glad he did well.

Player of the Year - Craig Eastmond

View attachment 394169

A few people mentioned how good he was when i signed him on a free last year and he has really been the rock in my midfield whilst Hourihane goes out and gets himself sent off. He also contributed 7 goals which was one of the top goalscorers.

Young Player of the Year - Joel Castro Pereira

View attachment 394168

The Man Utd academy product has been an awesome addition to the side and has recently been making the Portugal National squad after starring for the Under 21's in recent months.

Best Eleven - This Season

View attachment 394167

Best Eleven Ever (4 Seasons)

View attachment 394166

So Luke Young and Curtis Nelson have played in 207 games each out of the 215 games i have been in charge of since taking over with Young also the player to have scored the most goals in that time with 37 goals. Seems a life time ago Jon Parkin was our top goalscorer after firing us to Promotion in League 2!

And Finally I Sign a New Deal

July/August 2017 - Summer Transfer Window

Season Expectations

View attachment 394163

So the wage budget is just a mere 10k under what the current one is and if i move the transfer budget over it still doesnt give me a lot, I did manage to let a few players go though.

15 Players Released

View attachment 394162

The likes of Cole, Hitchcock and Dumbuya leaving saved me in the region of around 30k a week and thats what i will have to play with this Summer in the transfer market. Beyond these players leaving i also let around 8 young players leave on loans for the season.

Players In

So with the limited funds i had i brought in 4 players on free transfers and that was it. I struggled to offer any real decent wages and missed out on the likes of Snodgrass and Gary Hooper who in their late twenties would have been awesome at this level but im happy enough with my new signings.

Max Clayton - ST

View attachment 394152

So after a big money move to Swansea he went on 4 successive loans and was then released but the former Crewe striker will go straight into our lineup either as a winger or up top but we did manage to resign Mooney for another season so he may play just behind him.

John Conchie - DC

View attachment 394147

The former Blackburn player looks a star for the future and fits in well to my get them young and hope for a potential re-sale value.

Jack Stephens - DRC

View attachment 394146

Stephens is from Plymouth and started his career with us several years ago before moving on to Southampton but i snapped him up as a replacement at RB with Dumbuya getting on and leaving at the end of his contract.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles - AMR

View attachment 394145

Niles looks pretty awesome at this level and comes from Arsenal's Academy and is another young player going places in our side.

Transfer History

View attachment 394144

Heres the Liking Starting 11

View attachment 394143

Beyond Mooney and Hall our entire first team squad consists of players in their mid twenties and younger with 5 of our starting eleven 21 or under.

Tactic

Nice transfers, Clayton looks awesome, and that regen looks good for the future.

August 2017

Plymouth Announce Link With Everton

View attachment 393738

So Chelsea didnt want to loan me anyone this season so i thought we would move on to Everton but they havent been any better in offering any decent loan deals but they do pay us a bit more than Chelsea did.

Season Odds

View attachment 393737

Well the Bookies odds dont look too good for us but the fact our board wants a top half finish must mean we have improved on a whole from last season and i would like to think with a couple more free transfers throughout the season we could push for the playoffs.

Fernandez Out For 6 Weeks

View attachment 393736

August Fixtures

View attachment 393735

What a start to the new season with 5 wins from our first 6 games! We start the season with an impressive thumping of Nottm Forest with Clayton scoring a brace as we then went on to beat Gillingham by the same score with Clayton and young winger Niles linking well in that game too.
It was wingers Niles and Young that got the job done against Sheff Wed before we went on to beat West Ham with Mooney scoring a brace before a very late winner by Ryan Hall.
We had to suffer through a boring bore draw with Wolves but then managed to win another cup tie against York with the front 3 of Mooney, Niles and Young looking a real attacking threat this season.

League Table

View attachment 393734

The championship looks a very different prospect this season with the likes of Reading, Newcastle and Everton promoted there are not as many strong teams in the league and the teams that came down in Bournemouth, QPR and Nottm Forest are nowhere near the level of the 3 that came down last season.

Player Stats

View attachment 393733

So our best stat so far is Hourihane getting an impressive 3 yellow cards in his first 4 games.

September 2017

Well this guy popped up available on a free transfer in recent days im not sure if thats because of our decent start to the season though. He was pretty good on my Dundee United save and i also signed him on a free transfer probably at the same time with them.

Liam Bridcutt - DMC

September Fixtures

View attachment 393730

When will the bubble burst? Were on fire at the moment winning a further 5 games out of 6 this month with 4 league wins in a row to start the month against Peterborough, Middlesbrough, QPR and Doncaster with my front 4 of Young, Niles, Clayton and Mooney on fire at the moment with Mooney scoring 4 goals from 4 games.
We managed to draw with Burnley in the Capital One Cup after the game went to extra time and nicked it on penalties to set up a 4th rnd tie with Premiership side Southampton.
We end the month with another win against local rivals Bristol City with Mooney scoring a couple of late goals after a great personal month for himself having bagged 7 goals

League Table

View attachment 393729

Top of the table at the moment but i wont be dreaming of promotion until were here after Christmas,I just think after last season we have got a few bad results in us still and have been lucky with injuries.

Player Stats

View attachment 393728

Its been a few years since we have had a player top the Golden Boot chart but Mooney has been impressive so far this season after earning his new contract extension and has 9 goals already this season after only scoring 12 all of last season.

October 2017

Oct Fixtures

View attachment 393726

It was all going so well! I didnt even change the tactic but we came unstuck this month and lost 4 times in 6 matches.
We started the month well enough with Clayton scoring the winner against Brighton to claim all 3 points but then went on to lose badly to Burnely and Blackpool as we conceded 7 goals in 2 games before a little shining light with Youth Intake striker Andy Clarke coming off the bench to score a late winner against Derby but it didnt stop the rot for long.
Leeds then went and beat us in the league and we ended the month with Southampton knocking us out of the cup as we dont even put up a fight in a poor match.

League Table

View attachment 393725

Despite the poor month we are still in second and have a game in hand on Watford who are only 1 point above us in the league at the moment. After the good start to the season im expecting so much more from the team now after pre season i was hoping for a top 8 finish so i should be happy were in second at the moment . . .
