Wage Budget Increased

View attachment 393451

I think for me this is the first time leaking a story to the press has ever worked for me! I usually have to apologize or get sacked but after the board said they would not raise the wage budget i told the media i wasnt impressed and they upped it straight away.

So with the money i gained i brought in

So we manage to scrape a draw against Sunderland before losing to Leicester and worse of all Watford one of our promotion rivals.
At least we ended the month with an impressive 3-0 win over Play Off chasing rivals Birmingham with Luke Young putting in a standout performance and shift.

League Table

Down in 4th now but only a point off the automatic promotion spot and right inside the Play Off spots now 7 points clear of 8th place.

32 year old Mooney has been our standout player so far this season can you believe we almost let him go after i felt he wanted to much money to renew his contract!

I've never seen anyone get a positive reaction from publicly criticizing the board before.

I know in all the times i have tried it, its never worked, Im guessing its because i have done so well for the club along with the fact the board are wimps?

Right i have managed to finish the rest of the season this afternoon whilst having a few beers in the sun but will post the rest of the season up tomorrow as i doubt i would make too much sense right now

December Fixtures

Not a bad start to the month with big wins over Rotherham and Crewe with a draw against Bournemouth sandwiched in the middle of those games.
Our form then went a little topsy turvy as Cardiff beat us with Mooney missing a truck load of chances but we bounced back with an impressive win against Crystal Palace before losing to a late goal against Nottm Forest We ended the month and year with a decent 3-1 win against West Ham with Luke Young banging in a brace.

League Table

Watford a storming the league at the moment 9 points clear of us and West Ham at the turn of the year. The win at the end of the month against West Ham was key to our challenge for an automatic promotion spot.

Well with the extra bit of money pumped into the budget was expecting a few players in but there was nobody that interesting to bring in and with Gary Hooper yet to set the world a light i only brought in the one player.

I dont want to talk about it . . . . . .

Well we beat Ipswich in the cup and drew with Wolves in a back and forth game whilst we had impressive goalscoring display against Peterborough but we were shocking in the rest of the matches as we go on and lose 4 out of 7 matches this month with 3 of them in the league, not exactly Promotion chasing form.

League Table

View attachment 392890

Bournemouth have jumped above us now as we move over to let them fight it out with West Ham for the other automatic promotion spot as were now 5 points behind and all we can hope for his securing a play off spot which is more than was expected at the start of the season.

Clayton Out For A Month

Feb Fixtures

View attachment 392876

A huge month for us as the Promotion race is back on as we win 3 out of our 4 games this month, Local boy Luke Young has been key this month as we start it with a notable victory over local rivals Bristol but we then went on to draw against Brighton despite being 2-0 up at one point.
Huge back to back wins over Doncaster and Burnley live on TV helped set up the last couple of months as we look to make history at Plymouth and get into the Premier League

League Table

View attachment 392875

We leap frog back over Bournemouth but were still 5 points behind West Ham but the wheels have come off Watfords Promotion run as there only 2 points ahead of West Ham now after being 9 points clear only a couple of months ago.

A very good start to the month as Mooney is on fire as we win 3 games in a row against Blackpool, Derby and Leeds but then Sunderland and Leicester comfortably beat us despite only being in midtable obscurity all season. 32 year old Mooney has continued with his good form bagging 5 goals in 6 games.

League Table

View attachment 392720

Now after the poor end to the month were 6 points off West Ham and they have a game in hand and now really we have to start focusing on the Play Offs and i may even start to rest players to prepare for it.

Player Stats

Old Man Mooney is in the top 3 in the race for the Golden Boot having now scored 23 league goals this season whilst Eastmond tops the Dirty ******* chart with 14 yellow cards and is only 1 card away from missing 3 league games.

April 2018

So as expected in recent weeks we manage to secure our Play Off Place

View attachment 392715

We ended the season in indifferent form winning 4 out of 7 matches losing the other 3 but i had one eye on the Play Offs for most of the month.

League Table End - Normal Season

So we get Nottm Forest in the Semi Finals of the Play Offs and with finishing 3rd place we have to be seen as favourites to get Promoted but thats not always the case of how it ends up.

Championship Play-Off Semi Final

1st Leg V Nottm Forest - Away

View attachment 392713

Oh yes Purrington! Hes been with us since the League 2 days and two ate Purrington goals put us in a very strong position for the second leg back at Home Park.

2nd Leg V Nottm Forest - Home

View attachment 392712

Charlie Austin scores a very late winner for Nottm Forest to win the leg but its not enough to win the tie as we make it to the Championship Playoff Final were we will play Cardiff.

Championship Play-Off Final V Cardiff

It wasnt much of a game, there were not a lot of chances and way too many fouls as every feels the pressure of such an important game with Downing scoring an own goal before Max Clayton grabbed the second and the winner as we achieve the unthinkable!

Plymouth Argyle Promoted To The Premier League

Plymouth Argyle Squad In Order Of Apps

View attachment 392705

Top Goalscorer - David Mooney - 29 Goals

View attachment 392704

He fired us to promotion but i think the Premier Leauge at his age will be a step too far, Can you believe i almost let him go at the end of the season after i felt him and his agent wanted too much money to stay on.

Player of the Year - Luke Young

View attachment 392703

18 goals and 20 assists this season for the Plymouth Argyle academy product whos closing in on 300 league games for the club having played 294 league games for Plymouth already in his career

Young Player Of The Year - Ola Aina

View attachment 392701

Aina has been an amazing free transfer for us and at only 21 is going to get even better, Hes a key player for us for years to come and is a mainstay in the Nigeria National team already despite his young age.

At least even if we get relegated next season it will beat this record.

Sponsorship Goes Through The Roof Since Promotion

Wow congrats mate! Hopefully all this new sponsorship money might give you some wages and stuff as I doubt the likes of Mooney will keep you in the premiership!

Summer Transfer Window

Season Expectations

View attachment 392633

So we get to double our wage budget but not much in the transfer budget but i plan on mainly bringing in free transfers anyway.

Players Out

So a lot of players left on loan and a lot with their contracts expiring with squad players Karl Henry and Canavan leaving. The big transfer out was GK Periera joining Tottenham for ?5.75 Million as i had to put him up for sale as he went into the last year of his contract refusing to sign a new deal.

Players In

12 players came into the squad with only one costing any money and that was only because i didnt realise i had to pay compensation for one of the players.

Key 3 New Signings

Matej Delac - GK

View attachment 392632

I have always liked him in previous Fm's as people know i have a bit of an affinity with Croatian players so to pick him up on a free after letting Pereria go was a steal.

Kyle Bartley - DC

View attachment 392631

The former Arsenal and Swansea man will go straight into the back 4 and add a bit of experience and help bring along Conroy.

Jack Cork - CM

View attachment 392630

The former Southampton man will be key to our relegation dog fight this season and is another Premiership experienced player to add to our very young and inexperienced squad.

Premier League Odds

View attachment 392525

Odds-wise it doesnt look good for us as they think we are twice as likely to relegated as 19th placed West Ham and 4 times more likely than Watford!

Luke Young New Plymouth Argyle Captain

View attachment 392524

Young deserved it as hes fired us up through the leagues and i doubt Hourihane will get a game this season and gets sent off and way too many yellow cards for a Captain.
