A brief introduction to the Greens...

Plymouth Argyle Football Club is an English professional football club, based in Plymouth, Devon, that plays in Football League Two.Since becoming professional in 1903, the club has won five Football League titles, five Southern Football League titles and one Western League title. The 2009–10 season was the club's 42nd in the second tier of English Football. The team holds the record for most championships won in the third tier, having finished first in the Third Division South twice, the Third Division once and the Second Division once.
The club takes its nickname, "The Pilgrims", from an English religious group that left Plymouth for the New World in 1620. The club crest features the Mayflower, the ship that carried the pilgrims to Massachusetts. The city of Plymouth is the largest in England never to have hosted top-flight football. They are the most southern and western League club in England.

Fletcher Departs Argyle..
Sources from Plymouth Argyle have confirmed that Manager Carl Fletcher has left the club by mutual consent.

Manager Carl Fletcher achieved what was deemed as an impossible task in keeping cash strapped Plymouth Argyle in the football league, the club exited administration in October 2011 rock bottom of the Football League. Fletcher guided Argyle to safety by securing experienced old pro's such as Nick Chadwick, Paul Wotton and Darren Purse whom steadied the ship at crippling Argyle. Chairman James Brent and manager Carl Fletcher did hold talks over a new contract but these talks came to a breakdown after a bust up over the lack of transfer kitty being available to booster the already weak squad at Argyle.

Chairman James Brent had this to say to ThisIsPlymouth- "We are very sad to see Carl leave his role as Plymouth Argyle manager , he did a sterling job to keep us in the League and we will always be grateful with him for that, he was a great manager, player and captain for us and we wish him all the best in the future. But now are focus is solely bringing in the right man for the job to take us up the leagues.

Tisdale new manager as he leaves fierce rivals....

Argyle fans delighted at new boss.

Plymouth Argyle welcome Paul Tisdale as new manager, this appointment will have only stirred more conflict between Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City fans as Tisdale leaves the Grecians for the Pilgrims. Tisdale has previously managed Team Bath where he achieved an epic FA Cup run in the 2002-2003 season in
which they became the first university team to enter the competition since Gonville & Caius A.F.C in 1881. Team Bath entered in the preliminary round and advanced through four qualifying rounds to the first round proper, before losing to Mansfield Town. At Team Bath, he had a great deal of success, earning four promotions.

Tisdale then took over Argyle's bitter rivals Exeter City, he guided them to the BSP play off final in his first season where they had their promotion dreams dented as they lost to Morecambe 1-2 in the final. The following season he once again guided the small devon club to the BSP play offs but this time went a step further in beating Cambridge in the final following a epic 4-1 win at Torquay to win 5-3 on aggregate. His first season as manager in the Football League went very smoothly as Exeter breezed promotion to League 1 which meant consecutive promotion for Tisdale's side, Tisdale turned into a revolution at Exeter has he gained them League 1 status for 3 seasons and during that led them to their highest ever position. Their 3rd season however led them into a relegation scrap and ended up being relegated back down to League 2. Little did Exeter fans know what was to follow.

Tisdale had this to say- Plymouth
is a wonderful club with a positive spirit, the club wants to go forward and I wish to deliver that on and off the pitch." Tisdale was also questioned on why he left Exeter to go to their biggest rivals- "When you look at the size of the club and how much potential there is you simply cant turn it down, my previous jobs were limited because there was only so far you can go with small teams such as Bath and Exeter but I feel this club is underachieving and I believe with the right leadership this club can return to the championship, obviously my appointment will have stirred things up between the two clubs but at end of the day I'm only doing whats best for myself and I believe being Plymouth Argyle manager is the way forward for me.

Plymouth Argyle Pre-Season fixtures announced.

21st July- V Weston-Super-Mare- Woodspring Stadium.
28th July- v Bridport- The Beehive.
31st July- v Truro- Treyew Road.
4th August- v Saltash-

Paul Tisdale will start his Argyle career, with 4 Pre-Season friendlys. It is expected Tisdale will rotate players, use some of his reserve squad before putting his first eleven out for a home friendly against a high profile team- Which is yet to be announced.

Paul Tisdale!! Wow, never saw that coming, but decent choice, good young manager. Good luck.

3 in 3 out...
Fans excited for new season
Paul Tisdale promised Plymouth fans new faces as he hopes to lead the Green Army to League 1 in his first season as Argyle manager and he has showed his intent by bringing in 3 new additions, 2 being freebies and 1 commanding a 9k transfer fee

Bryan Hughes- Free transfer
Kieran Dijali- Free transfer
Wes Fletcher- (9k from Burnley)
The 3 players Tisdale has brought into the club all posses something different to the Argyle side. Bryan Hughes brings in experience to the central midfield role and is expected to start along side Anchor Man Wotton and playmaker starlet Conor Hourihane in a 3 man midfield. Hopefully Hughes will use his energy and make runs into the box and get on the end of through balls and crosses etc. Kieran Dijali gives us a option on the left as the team had lacked a natural left winger to form a partnership with Left back Onismor Bhasera, Kieran is expected to take on the full backs and deliver qaulity balls into the box for the forwards to latch on. Finally our 3rd signing Wes Fletcher who commanded a 9k fee will be our first choice striker and will be looked upon to stick the ball in the back of the net when expected, Wes found himself rotting in the Burnley reserves before his move to Argyle and former Argyle loanie Alex Macdonald (Now at Burton) Is believed to of convinced Wes to make the move to Home Park.

Chadwick and Feeney depart Argyle
Former Argyle forwards Warren Feeney and Nick Chadwick have both had their contracts terminated, Feeney's services with the Devon club had only lasted a season after he played a pivotal role in keeping the Pilgrim's up last season. Chadwick has also left the club since joining initially on loan in November 2011 before securing a contract in 2012 however his un-prolific scoring record has left Tisdale in no choice by getting rid.

Pre-Season Review

The Pre-Season is all about match fitness, trying out new players and tactics- And thats exactly what Argyle did. Paul Tisdale through-out the matches varied between 4-3-3, 4-2-4 & 4-2-2-2. It is expected 4-3-3 will be the tactic to lead Argyle into the new season.
(Due to my original save crashing I had to start a new save hence why the different pre-season fixtures)

V Millwall- Friendly- Home Park- 1-0: A solid 1-0 win ensured a winning start in pre-season thanks to 51st minute strike from Conor Hourihane.

V Crystal Palace- Friendly- Home Park- 1-2
Despite a solid battling display by Argyle they were curved open by Palace many times and Aaron Wilbreham and Stephen Dobbie scoring from inside the box, however Argyle stuck at it and grabbed a consalation goal through youngster River Allen on 86 minutes.

V Saltash- Friendly- Kimberley Stadium- 2-0- A breeze in the park for Argyle as they stormed to a 2-0 win over minnow neighbors Saltash in a cold gusty night in Cornwall, goals from Tyler Harvey and Andrew Elcock wrapped up the win.

V Stoke-Friendly- Home Park-1-3-
Not a result people would have raised any eye brows about although Argyle did take the lead on through youth starlet Josh Hutchinson on the 77th minute however there was more to come. USA international Brek Shea scored an equalizer with a well timed close finish on the 81st minute, the Argyle defense was then curved open with a stunning pass from Glen Whealen which Belgian U21 Florent Cuvlier latched onto lobbing Chenoworth. And then another Chenoworth howeler appeared when a cross came in and the helpless keeper flapped and flapped and ended up punching the ball to target man Peter Crouch with a simple tap in, some positives in the game though for sure and if pre-season is anything to go by Argyle could fair well in this division.

Npower League 2 Preview

This season's League 2 season is sure to be an exciting one where any team can get promoted if they have a decent enough season, the main promotion contenders will be; Gillingham, Exeter, Port Vale, Fleetwood and Rotherham however teams like Plymouth, Chesterfield, Oxford an Northampton can all pull off a suprise by making a play off push which isn't out of grasps. However those teams mentioned can also be pulled into either a mid-table scrap or a relegation battle which wouldn't go down too well with the club's fans. Barnet and Dagenham & Redbridge are the bookies favorites to go down.

Paul Tisdale is hoping for his Argyle team to come mid-table which would be a remarkable improved position from last season where the club finished 21st. All positions have been improved and will bring a wealth of fresh air around the club and the fans sure cant wait to see what Tisdale can achieve at his new club. Home Park will certainly not be an easy place to come for opposition teams.

Argyle start their season by visiting Millwall at The Den in the League cup on tuesday the 18th of august, whilst Argyle are not expected to go through could they possibly cause an upset? who knows what the cup brings! Argyle then return to Home Park where they will kick off their Npower League 2 season home to recently relegated Wycombe. One fixture the fans have been looking out for is the 'Devon expressway Derby' against Tisdale's former club Exeter City. The fixture at Home Park will be on the 13th of October which could be brought back to a morning kick off likewise with the away fixture at St.James Park which will take place on the 9th of march towards the end of season. Argyle will be home to Rochdale on boxing day and will finish their season away to Rotherham which will be one of the longest journey's of the season.

Argyle will have a lot of work to do if they are to improve on last season's finish although the introduction of 3 new signings should ensure that Argyle push up the table but maybe not as much as what Tisdale will hope for.
